How to use "pick up sim card by myslef" option?

Hi all, I'm new here.

Just want to buy a plan and use it immediately. There is a pick sim link at the bottom, it shows a map and locations, but nothing happens after picking a location. My question is how to order online and pick up a sim card at a nearby store. Thanks,

Tim

yeah, I was just fooled by the order pages. That should be the way to go.

@timyew  Just go to the Telus store and buy a PM sim card and then come back to this community and we will help you with the next step.  If you order a sim card direct from PM online it will be shipped to you and could take 1-3 weeks, much better to go and buy one if possible.  You don't have to pre-order or have it shipped, just check that the store has them in stock so you don't waste a trip to a Telus store that doesn't carry them.

I am a new customer, just confused by the ordering process.

What confused me is I thought that after I choose "pick up", the order would change the shipping method, but it remained same, asking my shipping address. What you said is true, it looks like the third option on the first page.

There is a pop up, I will check with the store. But my order still needs a shipping address. Do I need to buy a sim from the store, then go back to the first page choose "I already have a sim"? I'm confused by "pick up", I thought by ordering online, I pay for the plan and the sim then I go to the store to pick up a sim card. Hope I explained it clear.

HI @timyew

don't worry about eSIM, physical sim is better.  Easier and no cost when you switch phone or need to wipe the phone

Redmi note pro 11, seems it doesn't have esim support. Xiaomi 12 does. Thanks though.

@timyew

PM is offering free esims for new accounts. You get them right away. There's a list of cellphones that qualify though. If you're considering esim...let us know what make/model is your phone.

HI @dust2dust

yes, with new activation, there is a sim card to pickup in store option, better than wait for them to send

But I don't think such option there for buy sim card from My Account for existing customers, so only for new activation

You can only buy a sim from a corporate store which are the ones in that search link. Call ahead. I was not aware of a method of buying a sim online and picking it up in a store.

@timyew   Best to pick up in store (or order through Amazon) if you are in a hurry because ordering online direct from PM can be very slow

HI @timyew

order online and pick up in store is good

But since you need to go and pick it up, why not hold on the installation first, go to the nearby Telus or Koodo stores and buy the sim card first.   After you go the sim card, then come back and activate, less chance of problem this way

@timyew   When you tap on the locations is there not a pop-up with the name of the Telus store and location?   To pick up one up you would  need to phone a store and make sure they have PM sims in stock unless you're going that way anyway.   They don't all carry them (just the corporate Telus stores I believe).

Amazon is typically the best option with prime shipping. or you can call Telus and Koodo locations in the area to see if they sell sim cards. those smaller cellphone stores that sell various providers packages will usually have PM sims. they also charge a little more, around $20 per sim
