How actually renewal work moneywise?

Reward money deducted first from plan cost?

Then money taken from account if some money is there?

And if not enough then credit card charged if auto pay set up?

@Ali03

If you are on the points system then rewards are not automatically applied at renewal. Otherwise everything in the spoiler below applies....

Spoiler

3 days before your renewal you will get a reminder to pay text from pm (611). You will get this text whether you have paid ahead of time or not or whether or not you are set up for autopay. You can use this as your reminder to top up your account.

At about 6pm on the evening before renewal your account status will change to expired as your 30 day plan is about to expire. Unless you have no services this is perfectly normal.

On the day of your renewal at midnight eastern your plan will renew and any counters ( like data) in your account will reset to zero (0/1024mb). Rewards will be converted and applied to your balance as available funds.

At 2am eastern your plan amount will be debited from your available funds in your balance. If there is insufficient funds in your balance to cover your plan amount the difference will be charged to your autopay card as an automatic top up. Your card statement will show this amount+taxes.

Your payment history will show 30 DAY PLAN....$10 and depending on your plan either your applicable data amount 1 GB OF DATA AT 3G SPEED....$15  or 3GB/$25 or 5GB/$30 and so on or for the $15 plan the talk portion 100 Minutes Talk Booster......$5.

If an automatic top up and/or the plan/data/minute debits/credits do not show in your payment history by shortly after 2am eastern you have likely suffered an autopay failure. (Unless renewals are running late as they often do the only way to tell if you have suffered an autopay failure is attempting to make a manual payment by choosing other amount. You will be unable to do this until after renewal payments have been debited from accounts. You will have to use lost/stolen to force your plan payment to pm). You will have until 6am eastern to make a manual top up and reactivate your plan. If reactivate does not take your plan amount from your balance then briefly suspend your service via lost/stolen. This forces the payment and the transactions will show up in your payment history.

At 6am eastern any account  that has not paid for their plan amount in full will have their services suspended or if its been 90 days these accounts will be cancelled and deactivated and lose their phone number. Active accounts will change from expired/suspended to active status. Occasionally this process is delayed up to 6 hours or so....check your transactions in your payment history for confirmation.

At noon eastern you will recieve two texts from 611. The first confirms your rewards were successfully applied to your account. The second confirms your plan has successfully renewed. Not recieving the second text indicates an autopay failure.*Currently a glitch causes the rewards text to be sent 12 hours later at midnight eastern.

Please note when renewals are delayed up to 6 to 8 hours all timing afterwards moves up an equal amount of time. For example if renewal payments are debited at 5am eastern then suspensions would occur at 9am eastern.

It is my suggestion that before and after renewal you screenshot your overview page and your payment history in case their are any anomolies that need to be addressed like your data counter not resetting. If you like to keep detailed records and you are computer savvy @LurganIeUk has an excel file to export your account history to....send him a private message if this interests you.

@Ali03  - I think what you wrote sums is it pretty nicely.

Yes to Above.

Add in, if not enough in Available Funds and no Autopay set up, then plan will not renew without appropriate funds on the account. So, it will then go into suspended status and services will be lost, until payment is made and account is reactivated.

*If in this suspended/nonpay status for over 90 days, the phone number and account is closed.

@JL9 "even when it says expired or suspended you will still have full service over night unless the payment doesn't go through?"

Payment is usually attempted around 2am eastern. So you cannot count on service when you wake up.

Im assuming that even when it says expired or suspended you will still have full service over night unless the payment doesn't go through?

@Ali03

Your reward will show as credit under Current Balance in $.
It will deducted from your monthly bill on renewal date.

I don’t know how the Points system works but I assuming there is a section in My Rewards showing how many points you earned.

@Ali03  Depends if you're on old reward system or new point system.

Old rewards

  • Evening before renewal day account goes from Active to expired
  • At midnight eastern on renewal day the process starts. Account will eventually go from Expired to Suspended. Ignore that message if you're on auto-pay or have enough funds to cover plan and your service is working
  • System will credit rewards to balance first
  • System will then deduct from available balance.
  • System will then charge credit card if any additional amount is owed
  • Eventually around afternoon system will complete the payment and account will go from Suspended status back to active.

New rewards

  • Sytem will covert any rewards to points
  • You pay full price for your plan.
  • System credits 5% back of what you paid in points.
  • Same status. Active, Expired, Suspended back to active
  • .Once you accumulated 15 points you can redeem them

Reward gets added to account on renewal night. Then yes if autopay is on then the credit card gets charged the amount needed to pay the plan.

@Ali03  You pretty much have it all

At around 6pm EST the night before, your account status will change to Plan Expired

At around 12AM ET, counter on your overview and usage pages will reset.  All applicable rewards are applied to your account Actual order: Community , AutoPay reward, then Referrals then Loyalty

at around 2AM ET, PM will get money from Available Fund and will trigger Autopay to top up the account if the fund there is not enough

At around 6AM EST, account will be renewed if there are enough funds

Later in the day , your account status will be changed back to Active
