how can I start using another SIM if I cannot access the old phone (its gone) no other access to account other than this laptop which doesnt have that email logged in .....2 step verification is a nightmare

Contact customer support to perform the sim swap for you. Have your autopay card handy to help answer the extra verification questions you will be asked by the CSA.
Keep an eye on the envelope icon next to your avatar at the top right corner of your screen for a little number to pop up indicating a reply from a CSA. Responding promptly will speed up service times but expect a reply within an hour.

To pre-verify your account in your private messages only include your full name, address, email, phone # and 4 digit acct pin #

Contact a Customer Support Agent
To contact a Customer Support Agent, there are 2 methods:
Watch for their response in your Community private mailbox which will be indicated by a number on the small envelope icon to the left of your Community avatar.

If you have no webmail or client access to that email inbox then all you can do is contact the support people.
