How do I receive sms verification to port out my number

I am wanting to port my number to Telus and Telus says they need to send public mobile device a sms verification. How I don't have an sms plan. What should I do?

@Jay7272u3j2_  your account must still be active to port.  There is no Public Mobile plan without SMS capability.

@Jay7272u3j2_   All Public Mobile plans have SMS included, or do you mean your SMS is not working at the moment?  You do need to leave your Public Mobile sim in the phone to receive the message.
