Cannot receive FB verification text. all other verification and normal texts work
08-27-2022 07:44 PM
Actually, what you are saying makes no sense to me, and does not appear to be relevant
08-27-2022 07:41 PM
Everyone keeps saying i should open a ticket with FB. There is no method to get FB to look at a specific, individual issue. If there is, please tell me how. The place everyone keeps referring to, "help and support" does not allow you to log a specific problem and "get a ticket".

@ryan8292 I understand you still think it is a PM issue, any chanc eyou tried open ticket with FB and have them investigate as well?
Also, why not try to use Authenticator app instead of SMS? It is a much more secure solution and less dependent of the carrier, just in case you end up the same situation with another provider

You said something about logging in to the website that wants to do 2FA. Do you have the app on the phone? What happens when you use it? Is there a remote chance something in the app syncs with the server and maybe conflicts between them and the server still thinks it sees the app number if maybe it's set to the old Rogers #. If that made any sense.

I'm probably going to switch mobile carriers to see if that solves my problem.
08-14-2022 06:44 PM
BTW
the land line number i ported over was a land line number for decades. pretty sure its not in FB database.
08-14-2022 06:31 PM
from where I sit, it absolutely looks like a PM issue. Not systemic to 2FA texts, but specifically how my land line number was ported over. some PM setting is not working properly with FB. FB resolution is to contact my carrier.

@ryan8292 so, it goes back to porting issue, just not Rogers
again, you are receiving other system 2FA without issue? If that is the case, it doesn't look like a PM problem. Even you think it is , try to open on Facebook side as well.
I think your quick fix is to use Authentication app, for safety and to fix this issue

@ryan8292 and this is likely a better solution, use the Authentication app. it is safer and less issue with sms
https://www.facebook.com/help/358336074294704
(and yes, Authentication app is always the first choice for 2FA and SMS is last. SMS is carrier dependent, you see problem like what you are experiencing. Also, you have will have trouble if you lost your phone or when you are overseas that you cannot receive the text. And most dangerous part is from Sim fraud)
08-14-2022 05:55 PM
@ryan8292 So, how long you got the PM number?
Again, that can still be a Facebook issue., especially if you got the PM number new.
The number could be with another provider before and was registered in Facebook database. It is still showing up with the other provider and hence Facebook system was never able to pick the correct the carrier to route the text too
It's not harm to open ticket with both Facebook and Public mobile. Again, issue like this is 50-500 with sender and receiver. Open ticket on both end to get this covered

The rogers number and the PM number are different, always have been. Those 2 numbers never intersected
Rogers # - worked for the last 8+ years with my FB account.
PM # - different than Rogers number - has not worked with FB ever.
The rogers number remained verified for the last 2 months as I tried to solve the PM number blocking issue. Time ran out and I no longer have access to the the Rogers number.

@ryan8292 Like what @hTideGnow explained, it could be a problem on Facebook side.
voice and text calls are all routing and networks. When you ported a number, mobile carriers updated the take quickly and accurately 99% of the time (still a 1% error), system generated text get their routing table themselves and usually delay more and have more error. It is very very likely that Facebook system still associating your number with Rogers and hence not routing the 2FA code properly.
Can you at least have able to login to Facebook from some device? If so, login to Facebook, DISABLE 2FA first and let it disable for 7 to 10 days before you try to re-enable 2FA.
If you cannot even login Facebook anywhere, call them and ask them to check.
Again, you should be opening ticket on BOTH Facebook and PM. I have seen many times it is the sender side (in your case, Facebook) with the problem and not the receiving ends (in this case, PM). Yes, it works before porting and not after, because of all the network routing reason

HI @ryan8292 system generated sms does not work the same way as text you sent between friends. They might need to find out which carrier you number is at before it can send correctly. Usually the process is seamless after porting, just need to wait couple days.
But of course, it can get stuck. FB might have to remove the old entry manually or have to do something to "enroll" your account account to get rid of the old "Rogers" entry
Keep in mind, if FB didn't send the text correct, the text never go to PM network, there is nothing PM can do

How do you reconcile that fact that I used the rogers number my FB account for years without issue. So nothing wrong with FB sending 2FA texts to other carriers - just PM

I no longer have access to that phone or number.

when you just login to facebook not getting the SMS code and how you did for rogers number and you getting code.. do you remove PM number from your facebook and reinsert rogers number adn you getting the SMS code. if yes ... then ok remove your phone from facebook and log out and login to enter new number and see can get SMS.

Yes

I do not have another mobile number I can use.
PM CS agent a week ago gave me the standard line that its not PM its FB. So not helpful. I did not reply in 24 hours so closed the ticket. I am starting all over again with that route
08-14-2022 04:42 PM
Appreciate what you are saying but I cannot reconcile what you are saying with the situation
> Facebook 2FA text request from my account to different phone on Rogers - Check
>Facebook 2FA text request from my account to previous device on PM - No go
>Facebook 2FA text request from my account to current device on PM - no go
> Literally every other 2FA text to my current device - Check
I assume PM is not blocking all 2FA from Facebook, but I am saying the only common factor in MY problem is PM not allowing 2FA from my FB account
08-14-2022 04:16 PM
are you sure correct phone number in your account facebook.
08-14-2022 04:13 PM
HI @ryan8292 , any chance you can try to change to another number first for now? I am not sure if it is a problem on FB side or PM
and you opened ticket ? what did PM CS agent say?
08-14-2022 04:11 PM
and rebooting device. done
Reminder, text messaging working 100% of the time except for FB. And my FB account had no issue with authentication texts to my work phone on Rogers, so not any settings in FB. The only common denominator is PM

Absolutely agree.
Some of the "authoritative" posts here are completely wrong information. Panicky knee-jerky accusations.
Public Mobile does not block these Facebook 2FA codes. I've witnessed my friends (and PM referrals) login to Facebook many times and get confronted by Facebook 2FA every day. It works fine. On iPhones and on Androids.
The problem is not Public Mobile. It's not even Facebook. It's the phone software or phone (mis)configuration.
The phone will continue to "block Facebook" regardless which provider you use.
And it's not that hard to fix. The answers were already given in this thread.

I have never received a text from FB while on PM. Search confirms it.
