Extra charge for 4g

Pmcus
Great Neighbour / Super Voisin

My cellphone is 4g and lte compatible(I've checked my phone settings and also i verified my imei and is volte compatible). Also every time I use my data it shows 4g in the top right corner.

But still I received a message from 4013 saying that I will be charged an extra 5 $ because I'm using the 3g . Obviously this is wrong and I'm planning to leave Public Mobile if they go ahead with this 5$ extra charge. Hopefully a CSA is seeing my post and helps me out otherwise goodbye PM.

@Pmcus

Did you check on the PM website IME checker for VoLTE compatibility?

According to PM staff, some customers may have gotten these warning texts in error. If your phone is VOLTE and LTE compatible, then you should not be charged on June 15.  If you are charged, you will need to contact customer service agent.

hi @Pmcus

You might have a 4G or even 5G plan and using 4G/LTE/5G for data,  and your phone might support VoLTE.  But PM has a VoLTE whitelist and only phones on the list can use VoLTE.   Your phone likely is not on the list, so while you are using 4G or LTE or 5G for data, when you are making calls, the system is now falling back to 3G for voice calls.  So, when the 3G network ends, you won't be able to use any network for calls with your current phone

what phone do you have? and which province?

check if your phone can use VoLTE using the IMEI checker here:
