LG G5 is a 9 years old phone. As many banks , emails need your phone to login, security for older phone is a concern. You really should start looking for a new phone not just because of 3G but for the security concern

No matter way you go. All carriers will decommission 3G eventually.

If you phone is not VoLTE (voice over LTE). You can’t call out and incoming calls goes to voicemail. Just enter the phone’s IMEI at the bottom of the page link to see if your phone is compatible.
If you don’t want to upgrade your phone. Download a VoIP app like WhatsApp, TextNow or Fongo and you can make calls when connected to wifi or on your data.

TELUS, Public Mobile’s Parent company, is currently refarming the 850MHz band 5 spectrum to enhance our 4G and 5G network. This involves testing and potentially altering how your device uses the 850MHz (band 5) on LTE and the 1900MHz (band 2) on 3G/HSPA.

You just need to make sure you have a phone that can work on Public Mobile.
To confirm if your phone will work with Public Mobile, please see the link provided by hTideGnow. There is a way to check the IMEI number to confirm it will work on their network. There have been reports other phones not on this list may work.

HI @lesmfunk777
what phone do you have?
3G discontinuation is not coming as quick as you thought for most provinces
without 3G, we will all need VoLTE for voice and not everyone has a phone that is compatible with PM VoLTE. Check here:

if your phone is not compatible, you will need to get one before the end of 3G. But for now, only Manitoba has a sunset date of this year. Most other province will still have 3G for another year at least, and likely longer
