Duplicates under Usage History?

Hi everyone,

I was recently victim to a sim card swap incident, so I have been closely monitoring my usage history on Public Mobile to see if I notice anything unusual.

I noticed that a marketing text I received at 12:22pm came in multiple times in my usage log (see attached). Is this normal? Again, it was a promotional/marketing text. On my phone - it only came through once.

Thanks!

Just checking my account for something else and I noticed how many texts show in my usage for ONE only outbound and ONE only inbound. Note....each are same time. Why not just one entry per text????

I would say I had the same happen too. On December 3. These were the ones that were claimed as short code texts outbound and where charged to the user. BUT mine were charged and were inbound. PM has corrected my account. BUT this was to confirm a Craigslist account by phone verification. And I only have this phone number on 1 CL account and only received one text...not 3. And as yours the time repeated as the same time.

@TKRWG  with new smartphones you are not limited like old phones to like 160 characters. So you can type an essay as a text message and then send it. Most new phones will receive it as one big text and not split up.

However although the presentation looks like one big text. In the background for the system and cell network it still has to send each text based on a character limit. So in the background as you seen in your account it shows as 5 texts as that's the system doing it in the back per character limit per text. But end result on your smartphone you see one big text.

Nothing to worry about. All plans (except a few old plans that has limited text) are all unlimited text messaging.

Even the old, no longer offered, $10 plan has unlimited incoming text messages and 50 outgoing text message which you can have control of the size of your text message.  I used WhatsApp for my messages.  I used 21 outgoing texts for my current cycle with 1 more day before renewal.

Hi @TKRWG

Very smart to be watching your accounts.

Yes, that happened in my case and it is indeed just one looooong message that gets displayed as several entries on self-serve usage history, though it may show as only one screen entry on your phone.

Thank you! You're absolutely right I think - I looked back at this text and it had 5 separate paragraphs. Mystery solved - thank you again.

Hi @TKRWG there you go.  always nice to hear that mystery is solved.  Yay!

It would be nice if you go to the reply that helped you the most and click ‘Accept as Solution’ on the response. It helps people find answers more quickly and communicates your appreciation to the people who helped you.  Thanks in advance.

My Google Messages app can deliver long text message if the sender sends a long one.

PM 611 may be sending the text messages as 2 individual text messages.  My Google Messages app shows me in 2 separate messages.

e.g.  Payment reminder, Cha-ching! messages from 611

There's a possibility tha the text messages contained more tha certain amount of characters and got recorded as more than one message but that your phone reconstructed the messages before showing them to you.
