Hey,

So ever since I got on this plan just under a year ago, when I turn on data ir never works on Instagram and Safari? It works for nearly any other app. I make sure I turn it on for Instagram and Safari in my settings but then I open Instagram, see that then data isn’t working for it, go back to settings and see it’s switched off for Instagram and Safari even though i has just switched it on?

@abbygrace  Have you done any searching on the 'net for fixes for this issue?

I know almost nothing about iOS, so I'm confused about this talk of turning data on or off for individual apps. I would think that although you CAN turn data off for apps that you find are sucking up too much of it, I'm kind of blown away that something as commonly used as a web browser would have this kind of issue. Speaking of which, isn't there an iOS version of Chrome available, and maybe the OP could try that instead of Safari?

If nothing helped you could try factory reset.

Tried that.... still nothing. I don’t even have the chance to open Safari because as soon as I close the settings app after switching data on for Safari and Instagram, it automatically switches them both back off !

Check to see if it has anything to do with background data restrictions or Low Data mode.

Here's a link to help with those two settings. 

Also another link here with things you could try. I suggest only trying the first 7 methods, if it doesn't work by that point you should consider a "backup and restore", then a factory reset.

Try doing a Soft Reset on your iphone6

1. Press and hold, Home button + Power button.
2. When your iPhone shuts off and begins to restart , release held keys when you see the silver Apple logo.

If it still does not work, Your last resort will be backing up everything on Itunes and doing a factory reset of your phone.

Try resetting network settings since you've tried everything else.

1. Go with the Settings App.
2. Tap General.
3. Scroll down the screen and tap on Reset.
4. Tap on Reset Network Settings

@abbygrace  try deleting Instagram and reinstalling it and see if  Instagram gets fixed?

for Safari could it be a bug? what iPhone do you have?

Tried that, didn’t work 😞

Its like I’ll switch Safari and Instagram on in my settings, close then settings app and then immediately open the settings app and both have been switched off again !
