My new phone won't let me use my data why?

there are some talks about it when I googled it.  It looks like this is a system app, it has some vulnerability before but Google might have fixed it

Omacp is Mediatek's app to do SIM configuration and is included on all their phones. It seems Google fixed this vulernability in Android as part of May 2020 security updates - https://source.android.com/security/bulletin/2020-05-01 (search for “CVE-2020-0064” or “Omacp”).

Ok, so I followed the link, and changed the settings. It worked. Thanks. My next question is why did I get a OMACP notification for 3 seconds after doing this? I just factory reset this phone and I thought I closed that door. But as soon as I did what the link said and fixed the data problem the OMACP is back. How do I stop it? What exactly is it? Iv googled it and I'm under the impression it's a back door for hackers?

Hi @Mamabear1985

Can you show us screenshot what your current APN is?  Some customers with this phone has the wrong APN settings and cannot edit it easily.  They might need a 3rd party SIM, like Freedom, to help them to make change to PM's APN

In settings, is there a switch to turn data on?

I'm aware that you have a new phone but are you also new to the Public Mobile service?  Have you been previously using data successfully on Public Mobile using a different phone device?  Your answer to this question will help to determine if this is either a phone settings issue or if it's an account issue.

HI @Mamabear1985

Umidigi is an interesting phone.  Slightly harder to setup

Try to create a new APN following this:

@Mamabear1985 check to make sure you have data remaining on your plan by looking at your self serve account to make sure it shows up.

Also, make sure you have data option setting turn on when you want to use your data.

@Mamabear1985   If it is a new phone, data issue, it is usually APN setting

May I know what kind of phone you have? and what model and brand?

For Android: check this:  https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/on/get-help/articles/set-up-data-on-an-android-phone

For iPhone, usually just need to make sure you have the latest Carrier Profile installed
