Considering how much of a **bleep** hassle your credit card forms appear to be to manage, couldn't Public Mobile simple provide us a way to pay you using XRP crypto currency or something? It would be far far easier and not credit-card based.

@jlangdale, this thread eclipses the craziness of your other thread by a country mile! How many carriers around the world do you know that offers customers the option to pay with crypto currencies? If you want to make intelligent suggestions on how to make this service better, you are most welcome to do so. Throwing meaningless ideas out there that have no hope of fruition is waste of everyone's time.

Telus needs Public Mobile to serve as their third-tier "value" brand. Another entry point for new customers onto the Telus network, attractive for those who've been disenfranchised with alternatives or who seek a reliable low-cost-basic-service alternative.
Public Mobile seems to be a sort of a spotty hit-or-miss brand these days, though, too many blunders with bad press. I'd think that if I was a new customer who'd never/barely heard of PM then I'd probably pass it by after doing some cursory googling, too many complaints and accusations and troublesome threads in this forum, let alone what has been said at other sites online. But I suppose it would cost Telus a lot more to invent a new brand than to salvage an existing one. And I, for one, am perfectly happy with my PM plan/service/pricing.

I personally think it's a bit too soon for cryptocurrency but would love what @Korth said: "PayPal, Interac Online, e-Transfers" and etc.
@jlangdale: "Just imagine all of the customers you'll get" - how many are we talking about?
Sneaky Edit: My thinking in recent months has been that Telus/PM are not intending to considerably increase PM's user base (they'd prefer people go to the more lucrative Telus Mobility/Koodo post-paid routes) but instead just provide a "see we have a low-cost alternative too!" to compete with Chatr/Lucky/etc for people looking for pre-paid, relatively low-use plans.

Just imagine all of the customers you'll get, not to mention the free publicity that you're accepting XRP payment for cell payments. I would have already implemented it by now.
Hell, Ripple will probably give Public Mobile some free money just to do it.

I'm all for PM accepting PayPal, Interac Online, e-Transfers, and other common electronic payment types. This isn't 2005 anymore, gotta get with the times. But I suppose requiring a cash/debit physical payment or a credit card payment is one way they can ensure their phone numbers/service isn't spammed away online to every random internet entity which wants "local" numbers for fraud and scams and phishing and such stuff.
I don't think Telus will want to get their hands dirty with cryptocurrency. Too unregulated, too shady - most of it is legit enough but Telus still enjoys a lot of the privileges of a "Crown Corporation" and as such it still has a bit of an obligation/expectation to function as an unofficial government institution of sorts. And the Canadian gov sure doesn't like the notion of cryptocurrency - letting common people mint their own "foreign" currency? - not if they can help it, lol. Canada hasn't opposed cryptocurrencies, yet, but it seems likely (to me) that it's just a matter of time. They'll probably follow China's initiative and ban cryptomining on the premise of saving the environment, not burning precious resources on wasted electricity, etc etc.
That being said, it's not impossible, maybe crypto will gain traction. But I doubt it will ever come to pass, the precedent has already been set where cryptocurrencies are banned/criminalized, the future of cryptocurrency looks (to me) not very promising. (And, of course, anybody who mines crypto or possesses crypto will always always always advise people to buy into it - the sooner the better! - because their crypto has no real value unless they can trade it for "real" money, but that's really another topic altogether.)

@jlangdale Public Mobile is a no-frills, entry-level offering. Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but even the first tier brands (Rogers/Telus/Bell) nor fledgling brand (Freedom) accept cryptocurrency as form of payment, and those are the premier brands. If and when PM (Telus' 3rd tier brand) eventually does accept it, it will be well after Koodo (Telus' 2nd tier brand), which itself will be long after Telus (first tier brand in the Telus family) does. In short: don't hold your breath.

Nope, not even on board with Paypal.
