I was told that the reason my service degraded when I swapped from the 3 G network to the 5 G or LTE was that my phone was not supported by the Public network. I have a Samsung Galaxy A32 5G. I need to know what phones are supported. Does anyone know where to find a list?

Only a few years old. Worked perfectly before we changed our service from the 3g plan. I will try the NES cartrige blowing the SIM card 😉

How old are your phones? I wonder if there's an antenna problem or something. Or maybe take the sim out and dry your mouth out (less saliva 🙂 ) and blow in the slot (or canned air) and then wipe the gold contacts of the sim. Maybe.

It is all over the province. We travel around a lot—the same thing in Vancouver as here at home. My wife has a similar Samsung and has the same issue.

That just tells me that you're in a very flaky fringe area. Last year I was in a rural area and it dropped me all the way down to barely trying to connect on 3G HSPA.

Sometimes, it seems to constantly change between showing 5g, lte and nothing but the bars.

Well if you think the service is worse then I guess leaving it on 5G should be fine. It's really only useful for data. I suppose texts could use it. Phone calls use LTE but if data is off then you're connected to LTE anyway.
So when you turn on mobile data do you get the 5G symbol up top? My A32 does.

I agree about the iPhone. I said nearly that exact phrase to the tech via text, and she went out of her way to call me to explain in great detail how she was correct. I get worse service if I leave it on the LTE-only option, but I will try it over a longer period of time to see if it helps.

lol We have found and verified and proven that all of that is patently false. They're just being lazy and shushing you away to dismiss you.
Again, I would leave the phone on LTE and that you will get the same speeds that you would with the 5G connection (if you were in a better 5G coverage area).
I would never thank anyone for an iphone unless it was free 🙂

@Lorno Then I’m going back to my early statement get a iPhone be done with it and thank me later 🙂 new iPhone 15 just weeks away

I finally found the transcript I from the support conversation with Audrey from Telus support. This was the link she shared: https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.publicmobile.ca%2Fen%2Fon%2Fget-help%2Farticles%2Fv...
Here is their response to all of things people have been suggesting here:

It is rural, but when I use my exact address and turn off 4g it looks like this:
09-04-2023 01:30 PM
I see where you are. Sorry. I know of Dog Creek. I didn't know a Dog Creek Trail was way up there.
So I turned off 4G and it seems to suggest you're in a fringe area for 5G.

Already went through the support tickets and to the Telus tech support, and they tried that. No change at all.

I put my physical address in the Public Mobile Coverage map address bar:

@Lorno Maybe you should ask support to refresh your account and see if that helps

Um...way too much information there dude. Please remove your street number and IMEI.
Adding - where did you get that map? The link down below and using Dog Creek gets this.
I think you might have selected a solution by mistake. That's not a solution to your question.

It is voice, texting and using data. Worked perfectly before I change my plan from 3g only.
09-04-2023 01:11 PM
That's the problem, I have full bars and then it drops over and over again. Sitting at the exact same place I now have 1 bar and it keeps fluctuating.

Here is my orignal ticket:

If I choose 5G then I get to see the 5G symbol on the top bar. Whoohoo. I leave my phone on the LTE choice. You should be able to see different receptions if you choose either WCDMA option. Don't use GSM at all. That will do nothing here.
But I see some pretty solid bars there. So...what's the problem?
Adding - whoops...when I turn on cell data I see the 5G symbol. It otherwise stays on LTE.
09-04-2023 01:09 PM
@Lorno And is that not helping for voice . Have you ever had the screen replaced in that very phone ? Wonder if the antenna was not button in properly and that could be the issues for voice
09-04-2023 01:08 PM
Stays on LTE when on 5g
09-04-2023 01:07 PM
I have already done extensive testing.
09-04-2023 01:06 PM
I have tested extensively between the three choices with no improvement or loss of service at worst.
09-04-2023 01:03 PM
This is what chat support just sent me: https://publicmobile.ca/en/on/get-help/articles/check-your-phones-compatibility
09-04-2023 01:03 PM
Then I'm entirely confident you have everything you need. So much for all that tech support from Telus. 🙂 I suggest switching to LTE if it's not already there. You will get the same speed on either LTE or 5G. That might also improve your reception.
09-04-2023 01:03 PM
It becomes unusable if I swap it to any other connection choice than the 5g/lte/gsm.
09-04-2023 01:02 PM
@Lorno Put it on 5G and test the call
09-04-2023 01:00 PM
That is the model, it is IMS-registered, and there is a choice of 5G in the settings.
