I'm trying to subscribe to a phone plan from Public Mobile. It asks me for the 19 digit code at the back of my current SIM. However, my SIM has 20 digits and it won't allow be to enter the 20th digit and the check fails.

Thanks, good to know that it only applies to Koodo prepaid account.

There is no need to take a new Public Mobile first to be able to port in a prepaid Fido phione number. That restriction only applies to Koodo prepaid accounts.

Number selection is after the payment step. My suggestion is to take a temporary number to complete the activation process. Once that is confirmed to be successful, then do the number transfer. This is a little safer because if the account setup fails and the number transfer is accepted, you will end up with no service with the old provider and Public Mobile. This can happen, I have experienced this complete catastrophe. Don't forget to update the eversafe credentials so that 2FA SMS will go to the correct number.

On step 5, you can port (transfer) your old number over to PM:
The only time you pick a temporary number if your Fido is a prepaid plan but you don’t need to pick a temporary number if your Fido is a postpaid plan.

Don’t use your 20 digit Fido SIM card number! Use your new 19 digit PM SIM card number and activate your new SIM on the PM app.

@saheranwar from the PM app you are able to transfer your older number in. You'll need to pick the name of your old carrier from a drop down list and you will need to provide the account number (do not use the IMEI number as this is more prone to not working and then you'll need to reach out to a CS agent more often than not)

@saheranwar After you pay for the subscription you want you will be giving a opportunity to choose a new number or transfer your old Fido number . At that time just eneter your old Fido account number and ignore the IMEI it’s not needed . And leave Fido sim in the phone to reply YES to the confirmation text to transfer number . You might cost have to call Fido to get your account number thou . If I remember correctly it’s the only way to get Fido account number

Yes, I was referring to after that. Once the sim card is activated, do I obtain a new number because I'd like to keep my current number.

Okay so would that give me a new number temporarily and then I'd have to change the number from my PM account?

@saheranwar You just need to enter the sim number from the new Public mobile SIM card you have to complete the activation on the public mobile app
