I know this is an hour old but I have encounter this problem myself and helping others, IRL that is. This is how I solved it.
Wait just over 1 hour before trying again. It's best to update it using the app on the phone. If you have an Android phone, the go into the app settings, find the PM app and then clear the cache first then clear data. Reboot your phone and log in and then update your card. It should work from there. If you have an iphone, you have to delete the app, reboot your phone, redownload the PM app and sign in. You should be able to update after that.

@Miadelaney if you are trying with the Public Mobile website try logging in with the app on your phone (or vice versa). Something else you can try is to clear your browser's cache or log in incognito.

@Miadelaney Try again with new web browser and use incognito mode / private mode or use different device a lot of cache issues with public mobile can also try the all if you haven’t already another option . But if your in a hurry you can buy payment vouchers from shoppers drug mart 7-11 / shell gas station and load the funds *611 to resume services right away and worry about updating CC later be best if you can wait full 24 hours for credit card before trying again though
