Wondering if something in this article could help you to troubleshoot the issue?

Thanks for taking the time to look into this. I have basically gotten over trying to fix the situation because no one has been able to supply an answer to what should be a simple fix. Everyone I talk to is able to use data. I, for some reason, have never been able to get my phone to use data no matter what I (we) have tried. I get the replies, ("My phone works, why doesn't yours?). Well I don't know, and that is what I want to know, Why is it that "My" phone doesn't want to do what everyone elses does. It makes me laugh, I am not frustrated, just super curious!

nanniemclean doesn't work for Public Mobile and can't look into your account for you. It's important to know that eveyrone who has repsonded here is a Community member.

@spenky  have you tried saving your contacts, removing  your SIM and doing  a factory reset ? A pain in the tushy, but since nothing else works..

Thank you for the APN input data.

Now I have found that I cannot input the APN data do to an APN lock.

There is no listing for entry of new APN info, just a grey locked screen with "Reset" as the menu option. When I enter the "Edit access point" screen which is grey and locked, my options are "Save" or "Discard".

Now I am researching on how to unlock APN settings in Android phone through root.

Is this the right way to proceed or am I missing something?

Thank you all!

@spenkyYou need to enter Public Mobile's APN into your phone in order for data to work, the APN settings can be found here https://apn-canada.gishan.net/en/apn/public-mobile

Thank you for replying.
The phone is a Google Sky Pro Selfie Model
2G 850/900 1800/1900
3G 850 1700 1900 Dual Sim
4G LTE Bands Supported - No
NFC Enabled - No

 1. I do have a data plan. I can use the phone, as well as send and receive text messages.
2. I have never been able to use any data. Public Mobile is selected under Network Operators and I have tried alternates too.
3. APN does not, or has ever shown: Public Mobile or APN: sp.mb.com
4. I have listed: KoodoSP (sp.koodo.com), Telus SP (sp.telus.com), Telus Services (services.telus.com), Telus Mobile (sp.telus.com).
5. Telus SP sp.telus.com does meet  the requirements for proxy, port, MMSC, MMS proxy, and all other requirements.
6. Tried rebooting, using alternative Network operators, and other APN  configs.

Will not connect.

LTE not needed data. Data can work on LTE or 3g.  Did you try the earlier APN settings?

@spenkyWhat phone model do you have?

The is a list of all the bands that Telus network have.. make sure your phone is compatible with them. Courtesy of @sheytoon

Telus current LTE bands are (in order of band number):

B2 (1900 MHz or PCS)
B4 (2100 MHz or 1700 MHz or AWS / AWS-1)
B5 (850 MHz or CELLULAR / CLR)
B7 (2600 MHz or 2500 MHz or BRS)
B12/B17 (700 MHz or MBS)
B13 (700 MHz or MBS)
B29 (700 MHz or MBS), for downlink only (SCC for CA only)
B30 (2300 MHz or WCS), for TELUS only (not shared with Bell at this time)
B66 (2100 MHz or 1700 MHz or AWS-3), not deployed yet

Telus current 3G bands are:

B2 (1900 MHz or PCS)
B5 (850 MHz or CELLULAR / CLR)

I had an IT tech check the phone and found there were limited options for networking. This is an Android phone and for some reason I don't have access to LTE.  Any suggestions?

I know you say you tried everything but

- is this a new activation or was it working and then stopped?

- have you restarted your phone?

- have you reset your network settings?

- is MMS working?

@spenky, I would start by checking the self serve account to confirm that the plan does have data and that it is not used up.  The next thing I would check on the phone is mobile data is turned on and that the APN settings are correct.  Refer to the following knowledge base link on setting up the APN. The APN settings are as follows.

APN Settings:
Name: Public Mobile
APN: sp.mb.com
Proxy: Not set
Port: Not set
Username: Not set
Password: Not set
Server: Not set
MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc
MMS proxy: 74.49.0.18
MMS port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 220
Authentication type: Not set
APN type: default,mms,supl
APN protocol: IPv4
APN roaming protocol: IPv4
APN enable/disable: APN enabled
Bearer: Unspecified
