I have an iPhone 8 and am wondering if it will continue to work when travelling in the US if I change to the Canada-US plan (my concern is 5G network compatibility). Thoughts?

@inquiry Great, you have VoLTE then, so you don't need to worry about the lack of a 3G network in the US. And as others have said, you don't need a 5G phone to enjoy a 5G plan. You'll still get faster than 4G speeds on the 4G network with a 5G plan.

Great tip. Thanks for the suggestion. I gave it a try and it worked.

Just test to make sure you have VoLTE before you go. You should if you have an iPhone 8, but here's how you can confirm while at home:
1) Turn wifi off
2) Ensure you're connected to 4G/LTE
3) Make a phone call and watch the top of your screen to make sure you stay connected to 4G/LTE once the call connects. If yes, you have VoLTE.
4) Turn wifi back on

@inquiry as per "Canada-US" plan details:
"⁺⁺Whether in Canada or the US, this plan includes unlimited calling, text, picture and video and messaging to phone numbers within and between Canada and the US. Data can be used in both Canada and the US."

hi @inquiry
Yes it will work
no need to worry about 5G, or the lack of 5G on your phone
We are still using 4G or LTE mainly, your phone can handle that. And your phone can use VoLTE for Roaming voice. So, all good. Change to a Canada-US plan and you can use the service in US like Home
