Can't recieve texts to port out

Portportport

Ported my number over to Public for a black friday deal, but have had pretty poor coverage, data transfer rates, and other technical issues.

One of those issues is that i cant send or recieve texts, which is pretty important for my work. It has been a day and I'm still not able to send or recieve texts.

Went with esim on an S22Ultra. Data works but I need to text as well

Hey @Dunkman ,

Took me a while to find my original (virgin) sim card - no in/out calls, texts, or internet when only using that sim, so it looks like the port was successful.

That said, still not able to send or recieve texts, have tested with my wife right next to me. Settings have been configured as per @softech . My phone is able to send/recieve texts on my other esim, but not on Public.

@Portportport

What about talk?  Are you able to receive calls?

Do you still have your old carrier SIM card?  Try on your phone again.  If not working, then your port was successful and technical issues with your phone.  If your old carrier SIM card is still working, then an incomplate port issues.  Just let us know.

Hey @softech , would you be able to send the port team number to my community inbox for me to call in the morning?

Small update, maybe relevant to your routing idea:

-When I look at my usage history, I can see that texts are not being sent out

Confirmed settings, reset, tried a different messaging app, still having issues.

Maybe it's just a time issue, as you suggested earlier?

@Portportport

first try Reboot and then Reset all networks

If still does not work, try to clear browser cache and test again

if still fails, try using a different messenger app.  Download Google Message (if you are not using it at the moment and set it as default message app and test again

Last, confirm your APN settings:

Android 🙂

@Portportport porting seems completed but problem with text, especially if you cannot even send and receive regular text from friends

are you on Andorid or iPhone?

Hey, thanks for the reply!

I can recieve incoming calls, but I dont recieve any incoming messages. My messages are also not being sent (they show as sent on my side, but my gf sitting next to me does not recieve them).

Is the solution to wait a few days, or are there other things I can configure to make it work?

@Portportport

First, do you receive any incoming calls and regular SMS (P2P) from friends?  If so, it is good, at least the porting was completed successfully

For 2FA text or other system generated text (A2P), it is normal for them to start coming later.   Systems take longer to find out you changed provider and to route the text correctly to the new provider (Public Mobile).    Also, financial institutions (banks) or government agencies (e.g, CRA)  put this delay on purpose too to avoid SIM Fraud

Usually they will start coming around the 3rd day after porting but it could take as many as 7 days for all the 2FA/A2P text to come.
