@Bethanito , are you able to use to resend code option and receive the 2FA code to email?  As already mentioned you need to verify the number port from the old service before the number port can begin.  It can take a good 30 minutes, maybe longer before the number port is complete.  Best way to track status is to keep the old SIM card in the phone and wait until the old service is disconnected.  Then you can insert the Public Mobile SIM card in the phone and be able to receive 2FA code to SMS.

are you trying to port in your number?

you were using the app to activate? is it trying to send you a code ? put your old sim card back , the code might have sent to your old carrier as porting is not done yet

and have you got a text from your old carrier about porting and have you reply Yes?
