Hi!
I am having an issue where anytime I am on the phone for more than ~10 minutes, the call eventually just drops. It happens pretty consistently every time I call my parents or grandparents, which is twice or three times per week. It has also happened while waiting on hold; and when talking with customer support agents for various reasons. It appears to be an issue affecting a lot of people, according to a series of posts on the r/PublicMobile subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/PublicMobile/comments/1d4b0mn/its_ridiculous_that_they_havent_said_a_single...
This has been occurring consistently since at least January, if not before then. That's when I started to notice it as a pattern. Since then, it has occurred very reliably on calls that span a longer period of time (i.e., longer than 5/10 minutes?).
What is going on with that? Is anyone working on a fix? What is the actual issue? Before I learned it was affecting a lot of customers, I assumed it was an issue with my iPhone and I almost bought a brand new iPhone .... glad I didn't because evidently it wouldn't have fixed it! lol.
Any clarity or advice is appreciated.
Thanks.

I got dropped calls intermittently in the past but usually only when the calls were long (more than 30 mins). However, in the last few weeks (May - June 2024), I have experienced constant call disconnected issue almost every day. Now it seems to be for short calls as well sometimes only 1-2 minutes into the call. It is a very frustrating experience since you might be disconnected any time in a conversation, especially when it's a business call and the other party thought I was hanging up on them!
I have opened tickets with Public Mobile, network resetting the phone, factory resetting the phone, re-seating the SIM card but so far the problem still persists. I live in an area when the signal is very strong (5 bar) since my location is very close to a tower.
I am still waiting to see if Public Mobile / Telus technical support can address this issue. If not, I probably have to move to another provider.

If you have an older 3g flip or pre-volte phone, give it a try. So like 2016 era or older iphone7 and lower. Android 8 (oreo) or lower. They work fine for me. No call drops. Anything newer and calls drop constantly.

Thanks Tom. I am also fed up with Public Mobile and dropping calls. My signal strength shows -103 dBM which is terrible if they are using Telus towers! doesn't make sense.

I'm getting the same issue as well. It happens almost every time I'm on a call. I notice when I walk or drive it happens more often than just standing in one spot.

McKinley, You are not alone. THere are numerous threads on here about this recently. I've been part of many of these threads and with PM support also. After much effort, I've learned that if you are having problem with calls, the only thing that you can do is switch. My experiment with Public Mobile is over. THey are fine for texting and data, but they dropped the ball on voice calls. I'm going to Rogers buyback offer 5G 100Gig unlimited plan.
Good luck with your efforts
Tom

Hi Kate15,
The reason PM is so cheap is that they don't have any in-person support. The chatbot is useless.
Sadly this isn't an isolated problem. This community is full of posts about it, as is the PM subreddit.

I think reaching out to Public Mobile personally might be your best bet, as this isn’t a company wide issue!

I'm having the same problem. I'm hoping that PM monitors these posts. I did have the issue last year around this time, but it mysteriously disappeared.

@McKinleyLS , I am in the GTA, I own a number of accounts and haven't experienced this problem in any of the accounts. It seems like support is doing resets on affected accounts. I suggest using the chat symbol to initiate a support ticket.

Ontario, but based on the various Reddit threads it appears to be happening to Public Mobile users nation-wide.
