Just been looking at Koodo deals - they seem to have an actual visible list - but no IMEI checker - so my Galaxy S10 is on the list as the Canadian version G973W and mine is UK G973F... so who knows?
They have a nice deal for transfer on there at the moment it seems...

With all due respect...what piece of his statement is false ?
I found most 3rd tier providers have reduced Volte compatibility.
His suggestion about which cells are most likely to be compatible is correct. There may be other compatible cell brands but those mentioned are known to work with Public Mobile. The other providers you mention may have their own preferred compatible cells though.

No false information above. I stand by my recommendation above:
phones released after 2024 and are designed and sold for the Canadian market should work.
Do keep in mind that some phones sold by independent stores or online marketplaces are simply imported devices and were not originally designed for the Canadian market.
I also believe there is some confusion regarding the IMEI checker. Some phones are in fact VoLTE-compatible even though the checker may show otherwise. Given the large number of brands and models available, and the rapid pace at which new devices are released, it is possible that the database has not yet been updated to include the latest models.
If you want to be safe, stick with Apple, Samsung, Google, Motorola. However, some new models of smaller brands (designed for Canadian market) are also compatible.

That blanket statement by softech is absolutely false. Plenty of users reporting North American market phones 2024 or later not whitelisted by Public Mobile in this forum.
OP, if your phone model is not whitelisted by PM's VoLTE compatibility test (IMEI) test, just port your phone to Bell (or flanker) or Freedom (the carriers most forgiving about whitelisting, you can test VoLTE compatibility in their websites in advance). Or eat the $5 3G surcharge and buy a new known whitelisted phone during the back to school or pre-christmas sales seasons when they are deeply discounted.

thanks.

thanks for the info .

Sorry @cigarsmoker ,
It is true that phones could work in Telus but might not work in Public Mobile. Reason is that PM is a tier 3 provider. Like all tier 3 providers, it has a much restricted whitelist.
Generally, iPhones 8 or later, Google Pixel 4 or later, Samsung S22/Flip 2/Fold 2/A15/A35/A55 or later, or other major brands of phones released after 2024 and are designed and sold for the Canadian market should work.
