I bought a new SIM card today. When I activated it, it is said invalid SIM card number, even though I entered the SIM number correctly. How do I fix this?

i suggest you close all Browser and do clear cache and cookies for any Browser,
and try it for a different Browser and open incognito mode,

Hopefully you still have your receipt. If it was accidentally activated by a typo you can contact customer support and report the sim card number and arrange for pm to add a credit equal to the cost of a replacement sim card once you activate your account. Best to get the credit preapproved before you purchase the replacement (save that reciept) and then just start your activation over. Once you are all set up contact the CSA again by replying to the last private message you received from them so they can credit your account.

This usually means that someone has used that SIM card number before, or at least activated using that SIM card number, possibly by accident. Clear your browser's caches, close it, and then re-open it and try again. If it still doesn't work, you'll need a new SIM card.
