Back-up SIM in case I lose the phone ?

I am thinking to buy a second SIM card to take with me while traveling. In case I lose the phone, I will activate the new card in the back-up phone I carry with me. Is this possible ?

I am travelling in the US, so my main number already have roaming and data on it.

It is a better idea to have the new SIM already activated with a second number in the back-up phone, just in case I need for 2FA ?

@oldrinba1  Just keep a second SIM card on you in safe place if you lose the phone just log into your account sim swap the number in profile page like this and get anew phone to put it into 

SIM  SWAPPING  profile tabs

No need to buy and carry extra phone around just incase
