Avoid Paying for Physical SIM when activating account?

I have not subscribed yet to PM but plan to soon.  I logged in and started that process.  I tried to activate a subscription but was having some issues.  My cell phone is an older model so is not compatible for eSIM, so PM's response is that I need a physical SIM card which is $10.  They ship it to you.  I'm not sure how long that will take.  Google indicates that it may take 10 days to 3 weeks!  I need it in time for our vacation in March.  Is there a way to avoid paying the $10 SIM cost on the invoice, so I can buy a SIM card locally?

Hey @PM4Darlene, send me a DM, and I will send you SIM for free. No strings attached, unless you want to use my referral code. But, if not, no biggie...more than happy to send the SIM either way!

You don’t actually need to buy the SIM from Public Mobile if you can get one locally, as long as it’s new and compatible. Many people pick one up from stores or order online to avoid long shipping times, then activate it through the app without paying the extra fee. That’s usually the quickest option if you’re traveling soon.

Thanks for your reply.  Yes I can buy a SIM card through Telus.  But it looks like PM will also charge me on the invoice when I sign up.

Once you get the new Public Mobile sim, download the app to your cell and create a new account, then activate the new sim to create your new plan. As you have supplied your own sim, you won't need to buy the sim from Public Mobile. Welcome to Public Mobile.

amazon sim will cost $5 with fast shipping...free shipping if you or friend has a prime account. Alternative...is there a Mobile Klinik in your area as they have the PM sims for about $10. Call around to your l0cal Telus retail outlets see if they have the PM sims available.
