Auto-Pay with credit csrd

I have a credit card registered on my account, but also have money in my account. Do I need to put money in my phone account if I want to pay using my card? The money I put on my account is used first, instead of being billed on my card. I originally thought the money was a "backup plan" in case my card had issues. Should I worry if my account is  now at zero dollars, but I have a card registered to my account?

@Norm76036 Not sure how people know the percentage of AutoPay failures as far as I know those numbers never have been published. IMO it's good practice two days before your renewal to add the funds into your account. That way, if there is a problem with the cc on file or the PM payment system you have a couple of days to get it resolved.

I've been here 1 year and I have never relied on AutoPay. In that period I have experienced 3 issues (failures) with my payment timing out and receiving the generic "we can't process your cc ."..error. Luckily I was able to make payment by entering custom amounts with multiple one-time payment retries. The problem with the current AutoPay system is if it fails it just suspends your account without any warning or notification.

No worries, the auto pay works for most customers. No need to load the money to the account, but if you would like to in case if not working, it is ok too.

First any rewards are added to your account (loyalty, auto-pay,etc) whatever it brings your balance to is used first for your 30 day payment. Any remaining amount owed will be charged to your card on file.

Example $25 plan.... balance $14, rewards $3....total $17.....debited from your account and $8 charged via autopay to your credit card plus tax.

No need to worry autopay will charge you. If you like however you can manually add a payment to your account as well.

@Norm76036 for 99%, of PM users, there is no problem with their autopay.  However, I would recommend that if you are going out of the country to add the funds manually if your payment is due before you come back.  Especially to the States where you may have added a roaming add on only to find yourself without service because your autopay failed .

It's your call if you keep your credit card on to get the $2 reward and add the funds to your account manually a couple of days before you payment is due,  so autopay never fails..

Welcome to PM.
