I always wonder if it will be sunset for PM as well.  I understand my members don't believe so.

But honest I don't see much PM marketing or many promotion eventually in the last little while.  Some members talked about quite some Community activities in the good old days but I have not seen any myself... . What I see is that PM just "maintaining" the current business but no incentive to grow the business.

I always wonder if one day.. we will join the Koodo Community instead..

@softech the Koodo community is rather quiet relative to the PM community.  Will Telus shut down PM?  Good question.  It does seem a bit of a neglected brand.  And now that Koodo offers some throttled ("3G speed") starter plans, that does start to overlap a bit with PM's offerings.

If your assumption is that sunsetting the 3G network would require Telus to sunset PM, I would counter with that would mean they'd also sunset pre-paid Koodo and Telus offerings, which seems unlikely.  If your assumption is that the brand is no longer needed due to overlap from big sister Koodo, then possibly.  I honestly don't see it happening any time soon but never say never.  They could potentially fold PM into Koodo prepaid if they saw fit to.  I would "worry" more if I saw Bell fold Lucky into Virgin Plus and/or Rogers fold Chatr into Fido.

I think we're stuck with 3G for awhile yet but it would nice if we got voLTE sooner rather than later.

I was going to ask where you found the above snippet - but I found it: https://northernbi.com/3g-sunset-update-for-us-and-canadian-network-carriers/

I don't think any of the carriers have officially stated any sunset dates, the above is just "reasonable speculation" ... So I agree theres still at least that long to expect our ZTE boxes to work... If they do it like Rogers is decomissioning GSM, they just keep widdling away at the available bandwidth as usage shifts incrementally to LTE/5G until finally turning it off.

Both telus and koodo postpaid customers can enable voLTE if they have a telus "approved" voLTE phone.

Yes, of course.  I somehow left the prepaid part out.

Thanks. I have since found this. So my ZTE box will stop working in 4 years.

Public Mobile has not specifically announced anytihng, but keep in mind that for them to be able to do that, they would have to enable VoLTE, something that none of Telus Mobility, Koodo Mobile, or Public Mobile's prepaid customers's can currently use.
