Activation with new SIM card

I want to switch my boyfriend's phone today but he has it til after 11:59 est. I have a dual SIM phone can I switch it with my second SIM card slot and then just give him that SIM card when he gets home?

A good option but using the dual SIM is just slightly easier for me. Thx for the advice

Thx that's perfect a little easier than getting a temp number but both solutions work especially if you don't have a dual SIM phone. Thx

@darlicious you can activate the Sim card now and pick a temporary number for now and port his over Tonight or tomorrow.  Is that what you meant?

.@darlicious Yes you sure can. It does not matter what phone the sim goes in or slot it can be taken out and put in a different phone anytime.

So using your 2nd sim slot is perfectly fine
