I would like to know why I was charged for calls to a NS number: 902-580-4001.  It used all my minutes that were left for the month

@barndoor

They display as outgoing because they are call forwarded to your voicemail. Call forwarding is an outgoing call but luckily all of the call forwarding options we can use at pm are non metered calling minutes.

If you are not in the eastern time zone calls forwarded to voicemail are in the eastern time zone vs calling voicemail from your phone will display in local time.

Hi @billanddianne42

When you RECEIVE calls which go to your voicemail, they display under usage history as "outgoing calls" to the Public Mobile local voicemail routing number.

Why ?  They are incoming calls so why make it confusing ? My apologies for questioning the rules of the game again .

The people here can tell you how to disable your voicemail as well if that is an option you may want to consider when you are on a limited minute plan .  Most here never suggest it as an option but it can be done .

Mine is set so it rings half a dozen times and then it gives a busy signal .

Disabling voicemail itself won't save the customer's minutes (the OP could simply ignore any messages that are left),  although it will make it so that the person never has to call to listen to the messages.  If the phone is at all going to be used for any business purposes or if seeking employement, I strongly recomend again st disabling the ability for someone to leave a message.  While the trend to use SMS is growing, many consider it unprofessional if the person receiving the call doesn't answer but then also doesn't allow the option for a voice message to be left.

LOL ...how will disabling voicemail not save the the customer money ?  Its an incoming call ..its free if you answer it  ... it costs you money to retrieve it from voicemail  unless  you make special arrangements  . Even if you just leave your inbox full  as soon as the caller is answered even if just to hear that your in box is full they have to pay for airtime . When you disable there is no complete call or cost to anyone unless you answer it .

Maybe it's not for a business or an employment seeker  but with bluetooth and other technology  ...think of how professional you would seem if that call was answered  in person  rather than going to voicemail . 😉

Yes @Meow , that is correct.

Just so it's clear, I indicated when other callers call the OP and reach the OP's voicemail.

That is the voicemail number.  SO you must have called to check a message left for you

That's one possibility, but the other possibility is the previously mentioned incoming calls being directed to voicemail. Both will show up as outgoing calls to that number.  However, not all count as outgoing minutes used.

@billanddianne42

For entries that have a destination of "Nova Scotia", these are in fact calls that you'v'e made from your phone to check your messages.  However, for entries that have a destination of "All", this simply means that someone who called reach your voicemail. These do not count as part of your 50 or 100 minutes in your plan.

Don't be concerned, those itemized callers to your voicemail do NOT count toward your outgoing minute allotment.

It has to be emphasized that calling voice mail from your cell phone does counts against your minutes and for checking vmail as @darlicious suggested voip apps or land line should be used (unless somebody has unlimited outgoing calls).

Hi @billanddianne42

When you RECEIVE calls which go to your voicemail, they display under usage history as "outgoing calls" to the Public Mobile local voicemail routing number.

Don't be concerned, those itemized callers to your voicemail do NOT count toward your outgoing minute allotment.

Also bear in mind, that Public Mobile bills by the minute, not the second.   So if you make 100 separate 5 second calls (for instance), that will count as 100 minutes consumed.

@billanddianne42

That's your voicemail number. If you dont want to use up outgoing minutes calling voicemail call from another phone or download fongo or text now and call your phone number. Once it connects press "*" and enter your 4 digit voicemail pin# to access your voice mail services.

 @billanddianne42 : If you're looking at your usage details then don't. What matters is the front overview page counter.

If you don't see a line under My Data & Add-ons saying something of 100 minutes then you've consumed your plan minutes.

The $5 500 minute add-on is excellent for that limited minutes plan.
