Hi
I'm in Mexico till the end of April. My $40 public mobile account is paid until November 14th. What I would like to do is change my plan to the $10 before my next auto payment. Them I would like to report my phone lost and then report it found before the 90 day period is over probably around 80 days before I lose my phone number...Does anyone see a problem with this? or have a better idea for not paying $40 per month while I'm in Mexico?

Yes they are the same, but if op may have funds on the account
Also it is better when it's on the calendar so that there is no confusion when did it get suspended, and if we do it as opposed to slipping into suspension automatically and silently (op is away ave will not get any notifications by sms) less chances of miscalculation

Lost stolen is only needed if funds are greater than the plan cost.

Oh maybe just schedule change but dont let it renew at all, i thought you are still using it in canada. Ib think you May be able to make it even cheaper.
I would report it stole on 12 Nov, then in 85 days report it found and pay for the 15 plan, schedule the change to the plan that you would want to use when you come back. Then again wait for another 28 to report it stolen. Your leave should be over before another 85 days are up, so just report it found a day or two before you're coming back and pay for your plan.
Don't forget to login
Schedule it in your calendar with many reminders and ask a family member or a friend to schedule it as well.
If you lose your account you will lose all the balance all the referrals and all the add-ons you have, and also your number.

When are you leaving for Mexico?
If you switch to 15 plan on 14th your 15 plan will be valid until December 14th so I would login on 12th to report it lost and would come back in about 85 days to report it found and pay another 15. Then again wait for about 28 days to come back and report it stolen again. Then you have another 85 days of safe suspension which will give you more than 6 months.
The day before coming back log back and report it found.

If you have a balance in your available fund, you need to lost and stolen your phone for around 80 days, then you need to resume your service, and changed to $15 plan for another 30 days. you will save the money in this way.

@Oldgringo the 80 -85 day mark is fine. it give some wiggle room.
as I mentioned no need to do lost stolen as it is the same thing as having an expired plan, unless you have a balanace on account greater than funds.
you could always port into fongo. but not sure its worth it to save $30+tax

@OldgringoYou can always port your number to a Pay as you go service eg Rogers or 7-11 where you are charged per use instead of per 30 days. Then port back to a 30 day service once you have returned

My plan is to report the phone found say 80 days and not waiting for 90 days..still looking for advice or suggestions if this is a good idea?

@Oldgringo no need to do the lost stolen, just remove your credit card and autopay. * as lost stolen gives you 90 days from when its is enabled.
Removing auto pay will give you 30 (the time you paid with $15 plan) + 90
* unless you have a balance > than plan cost, in that case enable lost stolen a couple days before your plan renews on the $15 plan

Ok I'll change to $15 plan...Still looking for advice or suggestions on my plan to not make payments for 6 months.

@Oldgringo You can oinly switch to a $15 plan now. There is no $10 plan.

@OldgringoThere is no more $10 plan anymore. Also 90 days from November 14th is Feb 12th so that is another issue.
