I switched over to a 5g plan and I am not getting 5 G. I am in the Halifax area and from the Telus coverage map I should have 5 g 3500 MHZ. Does it take a while to update? I rebooted my phone and it does 5 G.
Thanks

No its not a dual sim. Not its the US version. Could that make a difference?

I'm assuming your s20 is not the Canadian version. is this a dual sim s20?

I have used an Esim in the USA with my phone and it worked with 5G

is it at all possible that 5g is not available in your area? I know where I live, 5g is only attainable at the city center

I don't have a setting to do that, that I can see.

May not be helpful but if you haven't done it already, do a soft reset-restart of your phone, sometimes my network settings need a butt kick!

@gbranscombe1963 what phone do you have?
05-26-2023 06:56 PM
I don't have a setting for network type on my phone that I can find

I don't have settings like that on my phone. I can select Access points and I have 2 selections Mobile internet which is sp.mb.com and Public mobile sp.mb.com. Under Network operators I select Telus.

The network owner isn't in question, but rather the network type.

As for softech's question about if your phone is set to use 5G networks in the settings, I suspect that it might not be. On some Samsung devices, 4G means the HSPA network when a Public Mobile SIM card is inserted. This would mean that you're not even connecting to LTE. Please set 5G as your preferred network type in the device's settings.

All plans have access to the same network types. The difference between 3G, 4G, and 5G plans (aside from amount of included usage) is the speed of the internet connection. There is no longer any delay for speed changes when switching any plans. New plans are effective immediately.

@gbranscombe1963 is your preferred network set to 5g?
