Two different Iphone 12 phones, side by side, the phone on Public mobile is not getting 5G, (I am paying for a plan clearly boasting 5G Service), the phone on Freedom Mobile is getting 5G.
Please let me know if someone can help?

As I previously posted in a different post -with my experience ,I did try Freedom’s free 15 day trial and was vey disappointed with the speed of what they claim 5G plan. It may show 5G on the phone , and again according to my experience, showing 5G but snail pace speeds. Just maybe they mean 5g network throddled down to slower speeds. Not sure about that because two chat agents didn’t have the answer and kept repeating to me that all their plans are on 5g network.

Are you saying speed is different, or the Public Mobile line won't even connect to 5G? Freedom and Public Mobile are separate networks, so you can expect different results based on where you are and local network conditions.
First things first, make sure you iPhone has the latest iOS 18 software update. Older versions of the phone software won't give you access to the 5G network.

My iPhone 12 - fluctuates between 5G and LTE even while I'm using it. That's perfectly normal.
By the way iPhone 12 such as you and I have are outlawed in parts of Europe because they exceed the safe radiation levels. Try not to hold your phone too close to your head.

@Human_Being If you do a speedtest simultaneously, is there a difference in speed? I have my iPhone on a 5G plan but it doesn't get 5G in the house, it stays on LTE until I'm out and about but when I did a speed test the other day on LTE it was still 194Mbps down and 26Mbps up. When you pay for a 4G plan it is throttled to 100 Mbps, when you pay for a 5G plan it is throttled to 250Mbps whether the status bar says 5G or LTE at the top of the phone. So even if it doesn't show 5G, it still has a higher speed limit on a 5G plan.

@Human_Being . You need to be in 5G area and have iPhone 12 or later , also you need to make sure you have phone set to 5G . But even with same provider and doing speed test from same tower each can see different results . When it comes to data speed nothing ever consistent and always changing . And there the number of factors at play environment, network congestion how close to the tower your etc
