3G service on iPhone 16 Pro. 5G on iPhone 13 Pro directly beside it.

Hi,

I raised a question privately months ago and haven't got a response.

My whole family is on PM. I constantly get bad service in the Wasaga/Collingwood area in Ontario. My sister is also on PM, and she has the iPhone 13 Pro. She gets 5G and I get 3G when our phones are right beside each other in Wasaga. The phone case is confirmed not an issue, I even tested it by taking off the case.

Can someone advise? I went to Apple today and they ran software and hardware tests on my phone - everything is working normal.

3G service is basically no service (besides calling).

It's sounding like your account is somehow misprovisioned. I'd contact support directly and see if they can look into your account.

Have you tried fast.com while on 3G? Its bits not even kbps.

I can, but I am assuming it wouldn't change. I had bad service when I got the phone, so I bought another SIM card just in case. Same issue.

Yes, it is on 5G Auto 24/7

Have you checked that the misbehaving device has the network selection set to 5G Auto?

Something certainly seems wrong. Is there a physical sim you could temporarily swap from one of your family members phones to test and see if the connection changes? And just to make sure we're clearly understanding, the phone is showing 3G as the connection in the status bar?

The 3G network isn't just calling. The 3G network is (still) fully capable of providing all of calling, data, and text messaging services. Check the settings menu to ensure that 3G isn't set as the preferred network type.
