Upcoming Changes to our Old Rewards Program

Hey Community,

We have an important announcement to share with our subscribers who are currently enrolled in our old Rewards program.

We’re making changes to our rewards program and are sharing how these changes impact some of our subscribers. Starting in May, we’ll be retiring our old Rewards program and moving all subscribers to our Public Points™ program. 

We launched the Public Points™ program in January 2022 to provide our subscribers with more ways to earn and spend rewards, with greater flexibility. As part of our commitment to continuously evolve our products and services, it's time to retire our old Rewards program and shift our focus on enhancing our Points program.

To show our appreciation for your continued loyalty, subscribers on our old Rewards program will receive a special thank you. We'll send you a text message when it has been added to your account by March 31st. 

We’re excited to continue providing you, our valued subscribers, more opportunities to earn and spend rewards with Public Points™ moving forward.

FINALLY Got a text message from PM telling me I'm being force-moved. I got none of the emails, no previous texts  apart from the surprise 5GB/150d, so until today, the only notification i had was the popup if i happenned to log in. Now, a text:

Public Mobile here. In accordance with our Service Terms, we are reaching out to inform you that we are making changes to our rewards program and these changes impact you. No sooner than 30 days from this notice, we will be moving you to our new Public Points™ program as we are retiring our old Rewards program. To learn more about this change, how it impacts you and how the new Public Points program works, please visit https://msg.publicmobile.ca/rjlt

@JollyOwl Unfortunately no, you will get 10 points ($10) once a year on your anniversary date.

@eyes No need to worry, if you are already on the Can-US plan or scheduled a change to it prior to them removing it from the plans page, you are good to go.

Hi @eyes 

you are here long enough to know when you are in the plan, you are in.  The plan is grandfathered but you will keep the plan as long as you want

This change is incredibly unwelcome. It's just a cash grab from loyal customers.

When I lose my loyalty and autopay bonuses I'll be immediately jumping ship. I hate switching providers, but this change is enough of a middle finger from PM to prompt it.

The bonus data is such a joke! I have so much more data than I use, and the limited time makes it less than useless!

I just received the SMS on both of my accounts. With the wording they used, PM has locked themselves into at least no sooner than 15 May now for the change. I might get lucky and manage another renewal on both accounts before being forced to the new program.

that is a proper update.  Company only needs to try all the possible ways to notify the users and they have done their part.  In this case, they tried email, text, and posting it on the site and announcing on the forum.  Some people might have blocked the email and text but that is not a valid reason for saying they were notified

I haven’t received the communication yet, am I impacted?

All subscribers on the old rewards program will be moved to Public Points. In March you will receive an email with details about the changes and a bonus data add-on gift. We’re sending email communications out in batches, and everyone impacted should receive theirs by March 12, 2024.

[Update April 15, 2024: Some customers will have been sent an alternative form of communication such as SMS as notice. Customers will be notified in advance of the move to Public Points by SMS or email, or otherwise per our Service Terms.]

The Canada/US plans have come and gone a few times before, that is why people jump on to them when they see they are available.

Now a loss of Canada USA plans. OMG that sucks.

Folks not needing roaming but would still like to call USA from Canada should check out NoFrills Mobile.  They do have MMS but their website is a bit confused, just like Public Mobile

In most instances it is "MR" for March and "MA" for May.

I would assume that, yes, you will receive Rewards on your upcoming renewal but that would be the last time. Just a guess on my part though. 

HI @G_Pomzz rewards will be add the day before renewal.  With your renewal on the 26th, you are lucky you will still get those rewards.

Since my cycle ends April 26, does that mean I'll still get Legacy Rewards for May as well ?

You definitely received incorrect information. Based on what you reported that the CS Agent had told you, I thought I better check my account. My next renewal is May 5 and I currently have $14 in rewards from April. (I was really surprised to see that I received a Community Reward – my first ever. 😊)

I’m disappointed that Rewards are going to be changing to Points especially since my 5-year anniversary will be May 22 but I’m very happy with PM’s $34 50GB Canada-US plan so I have no intention on leaving at this time.

That's basically what I do. I have a 30gb plan and use only 1 or 2 gigs each month.

It is not the money but the principle.

Personally I like the pm coverage.

I believe that most of us if not all one dollar more or less won’t bankrupt us .  It’s really all about the game - isn’t it?

These posts are still confusing me - For the record my $15 account just renewed yesterday and I did get rewards applied ($7) and new rewards added to my account that I think will be applied upon next renewal in the middle of may.
