Hey Community,

Effective October 27, 2018 until October 28, 2018 at 11:59PM ET, we are offering a SIM card and your next 30 days for $0 when you activate a 30-day plan in-store at participating retailers! This will be applied as an account credit and the offer is available to new customers only.

How to Get this Offer:

  • 30 Days for $0: When you activate a Public Mobile SIM card in-store at a participating retailer on a 30-day plan from October 27 to October 28, 2018, you will get your next 30 days of service for $0!
    • Participating retailers include:
      • Walmart
      • London Drugs
      • The Mobile Shop
      • WOW! mobile boutique
      • K-Mobile
      • Select Koodo Authorized Dealers
    • The credit value that you will receive will be equal to the price of the rate plan on which you activated your SIM card. This credit will cover the rate plan cost only. It will not cover additional costs such as Add-Ons.
    • Eligible customers will be credited the 30-day rate plan amount within 72 hours. These credits will count towards your next plan renewal.
    • For example, if you sign up on our current $35 for 1 GB at 3G speed, Unlimited Canada-wide Talk and Unlimited International Text 30-day plan, your account will be credited $35 within 72 hours of activating.
    • Eligible customers will receive a confirmation text message shortly after the credit has been applied to your account. These details can also be found by signing in to your Self-Serve account.
    • You will not need to top-up your account at your first renewal date, unless you purchase Add-Ons, change or future-date your plan to a more expensive plan during the first 30 days. Note that, if you have registered for AutoPay, you will continue to receive your $2 AutoPay reward every 30 days. All Reward rules, which can be found at publicmobile.ca/rewardrules, apply.
  • $0 SIM Card: SIM cards will be $0 when you activate in-store only at participating retailers.

👋 HELP!!!  I signed up for the FLASH SALE last month, for 2 phones for the free sim card and free month of service on the $40 plan and the $10 plan during the Flash Sale on Sept 30th at London’s drugs in Vancouver paid $70 and now both my phones are NOT WORKING?!?
I signed up because of the free month sale!!

I cant send a private message to the moderator here, it doesn’t allow me to enter a recipient name 🙄 and London Drugs doesn’t know what to do, so what do I do?
Any ideas on how to get a hold of someone that takes care of customer service?

Please check your recent new topic about this issue!

Anyone know if there's another flash sale coming up soon?  My new billing cycle on the my other carrier starts on the 8th.

* I DO NOT NEED A REFERRAL. I have several friends on PM that I can use. Sorry.

@Hongmei, you should not get a refund or extra funding to cover your plan change, as you agreed to the message that clearly states you need to pay in full, using any available funds and top ups, to switch plans immediately.

What you should have done is scheduled your plan change to happen on your next renewal, which would have used your ‘free month’ available balance, and asked you to top up the remainder.

im sorry you screwed up, but the messages that are presented to you during change of plans are very clear.

Too bad, I upgraded my plan a couple days before the sale...how I wish I knew

@Hongmei

As stated above, you will need to contact moderator via private messaging.

Explain your situation as best you can.  Moderators are usually accomondating...  You might be able to get the $30 credit back to your account (since you used only 3 days) or possibly more.  No guarantees though....  Worth trying though...

You will need to contact moderator for account credit/billing issues.  Expect 2-4 days

My question is whether I can get a reward for switching from the $30 plan to the higher $40 plan. I sighed up this FLASH promotion at 21st. Oct, but I selected a $30 30-day plan with a nonsense decision, and the seller was too busy to guide me to select a suitable plan . After back to home and compared with different plans, I changed it to $40 30-day plan which has 4.5 GB data at 24th Oct, and it cost all the reward money from my account. When I selected the intermediate applying, I was not aware that I need to pay another $40 to switch in different plans. Besides, the former $30 plan was only used for 3 days. If I cannot get another reward for the $40 plan, it is a huge waste to me.

Aptly replied! Another suggestion is to not just use the $20 plan but to use the special promotional $40 plan for 4.5 GB or the $45 plan for 6 GB per month. You may not be able to extend the credit for more than 3 to 4 months but with the referral + credit + autopay+ your own referrals over a period of time, you can definitely get a great value over a couple of months completely free!

Moreover I haven't had any issues with Public Mobile services ever since i have come on board with them and i feel it was a great decision right from the very beginning!

Well that's absolutely right! The point is how well you use an offer to your individual needs and circumstances.

Well you could always opt for a new sim, refer it from your existing sim under the current offer and get not only the $60 credit but also the referral credit of $10, put it on Autopay and get an additional $2 off. The way i look at it, you could easily stretch a $20 plan by atleast 3 to 4 months literally for free.

Yes you get a new number, but then instead of saying that the grapes are sour, why not think out of the box and add a little sweetner to those very same grapes or perhaps juice them into wine 🙂

@CharlesWang @janbow50 There is a process retailer have to follow when they activate. Sometimes some reps simply uses the online activation portal which is no different than activating yourself at home. Anyways, if this scenario occurred, you will not be eligible to receive the credit automatically within the 72 hours. If 72 hours have been passed and you activated in store, you will need to get in touch with the Moderator_Team and they will investigate.

@janbow50 if you signed up according during a valid promo you need to message the mods to investigate.

If this is like what I was promised signing up at London drugs it’s fake I never did get my rebate or any credit.

I am having a similar issue here: I signed up my new PM account last weekend (Oct.20) which was also part of a "Flash Sales" and I am suppose to receive the credit within 72 hours; so far I haven't got anything in my account (no balance change, no reward, etc.) I have just sent a private message to the Mod, after browsing here for a while. I will let everyone know what is the outcome afterwards.

NICE.  I say more deals the better.  Not every company offers deals on a regular, and if PM looks at their numbers and thinks it's worth doing another, then I say let it be.  Hopefully PM does take into account the SLA's and if needed maybe looks to hiring more MODS or give Oracles more MOD like capabilities.  But i'm sure there would be much less issues if customers signed up on plans that truly fit their usage.  And i think if customers look at some of the community archives for answers first instead of messaging MODS immediately that would help.

We have discussed more capabilities but it becomes a privacy issue as we are not employees of PM

Absolutely! Hear, hear. Please don't. Here in the community fine have at it but NOT where the money is.

Please give me the deal too because by the time number got activated it was almost October 27th.

Thanks.

I'd be curious to know that since PM runs on eastern time whether someone out west could go into a store after 9 PT (if they're open) and be included in this kind of a sale.

I would assume it's all based on est. As long as you for the criteria in-store and time date/ time you should be good

Existing customers waiting upwards of 6 days for moderator team response on account issues / no phone service. Why spend our limited resources to find new customers? Doesn't it make more sense to try and keep the ones we already have?

Yes— of course what you state makes sense HOWEVER the goal of any business is to make money.

Your bat phone comment made my day. I've only had to use it a couple times but now I'll feel like a superhero when I do ♡

I'm curious if the retailers get reimbursed for the sim cards or if they pay nothing for them. I ask because it can get kind of sketchy when Public Mobile puts these sales up and then the retailer gets the blunt of the bill.

SIM cards are worth next to nothing (for example), and retailers buy them in bulk (or maybe get them for free with an activation).

And even if they have to pay for the SIM card, they do get their share out of the activation.

And when the retailer is a Walmart subcontractor who often refuse to sell SIM cards only (without activation) to customers in order to get more commission from activations, or who don't imput new clients referral's number while perfoming in-store activation, well, I don't feel any pity...

(but I understand your point 🙂 )
