Thanks to your message, @HALIMACS , I just checked the Activity Monitor on my mac and see data received per second fluctuating from 417 bytes to 2 KB. I will have to figure out how I can get a daily average for the work week.Thanks.

@hTideGnow- that rule of thumb is very helpful. I won't need VPN. How can I find out how much my remote laptop usage is? Generally, I am on wifi. thanks so much.
