I have a senior friend who is moving and has a few items that will not be needed
Is there a company that would pick up for free?

Don't worry an oracle will move it.
Try the Sally Ann, Goodwill, Big Brother, Saint Vincente de Paul Society certain SPCA charitable society stores and several other charities may offer free pick up or list it under "free" on Craigslist.
