So what the point of Public Mobile?

RefugeefromPM

So starting in May they will be changing me $25 for a 1 GB plan, when I could get more data with any other company.

I can get it it with rogers or Freedom. And with real customer service reps to help you. I had a budget plan because I can do my own tech support and customer service and rarely ever ever posted anything for help

For years now you could get comparable budget plans with other companies

So this is what I get for being a customer for over 10 years?

Also PM keeps chipping away at my long distance minutes. I have never used my long distance minutes yet it says I used up one hour. The only place I might occasional call (one or twice a year) is the U.S calling businesses with 1-800 numbers

@RefugeefromPM You make a compelling argument to move away from PM.  PM was better with the old reward system where you could get discounts monthly for autopay, loyalty, etc.  But if other providers are offering same or better plans for you, why go through the frustrations with PM?  Cell plans are such a commodity these days that there aren't many differentiators these days.  PM used to be low priced plans with rewards that made plans cheaper.  It wasn't for everyone because it needed some patience and understanding that online support wasn't going to be the same as phone support.  Now I think more long term customers will leave if better offers come from other providers.

Thanks I am aware of the takeover of Shaw and Telus.
Yes, Freedom network is slowly improving.

I am surprised that TextNow is a Canadian Company that offers free calling and texting plus reasonable data rates that has a contract with T-Mobile to operate in the USA.

But Canada’s Big 3 will not have a contact to operate in Canada…comes down to profit.

They wont give the $26 plan with 4 GB to existing users, for some bizzare users, when other companies have the same plan they want everyone on the $30 plan.

I dont care for their stupid $1.25 points savings a month. It all comes up to the same thig as with Freedom, you can continue using data, even if your data amount is used up. You can continue using data but at 3G. My plan is 3g and It takes forever for some websites to load on PM

Their coverage is much better now, They were bought My shaw, and when Shaw was taken over by Rogers, they had to sell Freedom to Videotron in Quebec.

If you are in in Southern Ontario, you will never really have any problems.

@RefugeefromPM

I am surprised that Rogers top tier will give a competitive rate for low data users.

I know that Freedom will give good rates…about 15% lower but their cell network infrastructure are not as good as Telus, Rogers and Bell. They are good only if you are in BC, Alta or Ont.

Good thing PM will give you a credit system once you have collected 15 points for a $15 credit off your bill.

NO you can get the similar budget plans with most companies going back to around 2019. I never bother leaving as I hate jumping around from company to company.

after May, you'll get the newer Points. Obviously, not as lucrative as old Rewards, but it'll help a tiny bit. You'd have to keep track of your LD calling to be sure of remaining minutes. Remember than a call lasting 1 minute and 3 seconds is deducted as a 2 minute call.
