One of the things that some of the community is discussing is things going off-topic. Can PM make it so that once something has been solved that chat is locked from any more posts?

@CannonFodder  You weren't the only one you just didn't get a chance to get your bearings that one hour a day you're allowed out of solitary confinement. One day you're on your soapbox the next day you're in the box.....its never boring in the community.

Thinly veiled snark notwithstanding, I don't recall this length of silence from any non-regulars. Nor less than a default page overnight.

"forced break"?? Care to elaborate?

He was PROBABLY referring to me, having been banned for some humourous pics(that some folks apparently didn't think were funny) that I posted in the "Off Topic" thread, and then once out of being banned, I got banned yet again, for some further funny pics, that strangely enough, were already there when I was first banned, but they were only brought to the attention of the Mods, after the 1st ban..... things that make you go, "hmmmm". 🤔

No.

Do you remember what happened in kindergarten when you misbehaved?Scribbles (14).png

The forum software already prevents users from awarding Bravos to themselves.

Can't be too hard to also prevent users from awarding Solutions to themselves.

Easy fix for a small problem which can allow a bigger problem to be reevaluated with fewer complications.

Wow. Two straight hours of radio silence on a Monday morning and less than a page overnight. Is everything working perfectly for everyone? Doesn't anybody have anything to say? Or is this a lockdown? We'll see when I click Post.

Well it is spring time and there is life outside of the community forum.  Perhaps the size of the active community is rather tiny and some are taking a forced break, the place comes to a standstill.  I am sure there will be a huge rebound soon.

@Naepalm  but I do agree there needs to be a way to lock threads after a solution is found.  Many times you will see a 5 page thread and the answer was within the 1-5 posts

@computergeek541 @ShawnC13 see those are things I did not know. And you both of you for bringing clarity.

Cheers

The other issue is you have people who select the wrong information as the solution or give themselves the solution and the thread would get locked.  Then it would need to be unlocked to continue the discussion.

At one point, moderators were doing that to some message threads while deleting or archiving others. The process did cause some unintended consequences causing long-time member to lose some of the recognition that they deserved.
