Its up to Canadians to write their politicians and the CRTC and express their opposition to this merger and the already expressed intent to raise plan costs within three years for freedom customers. There was no mention about shaw mobile customers so that will probably cease to exist if this merger is allowed to go ahead. This benefits no one but big business....investments in the 5G network are going to be made regardless of this going forward because it will still benefit the bottom line and shareholders pockets.
Don't forget Justin Trudeau's liberals were elected on a campaign promise to lower cell phone plan rates and make them affordable and accessible to all canadians. Anyone who believes Rogers promise to invest billions into connecting remote and indigenious communities in exchange for approval is a fool. If we can't even supply clean drinking water and safe housing what family will be able to afford rogers outrageous rates and be able to pass their credit checks and survive their heavy handed collection demands?
We need to be loud and vocal about our opposition and demand more competition not less. We need stronger anti-competition laws and stronger political will to fufill the promises they were elected on and its up to us to hold them to it.
