Do you think TELUS will eventually get rid of Public Mobile

I personally think that the 3rd tier carriers are going to be absorbed into the 2nd tier carriers before much longer, especially since Freedom Mobile will no longer exist in a year or two now that Rogers owns them. TELUS really only has Public Mobile in existence as a means to counter the offerings of Freedom Mobile.

Its up to Canadians to write their politicians and the CRTC and express their opposition to this merger and the already expressed intent to raise plan costs within three years for freedom customers. There was no mention about shaw mobile customers so that will probably cease to exist if this merger is allowed to go ahead. This benefits no one but big business....investments in the 5G network are going to be made regardless of this going forward because it will still benefit the bottom line and shareholders pockets.

Don't forget Justin Trudeau's liberals were elected on a campaign promise to lower cell phone plan rates and make them affordable and accessible to all canadians. Anyone who believes Rogers promise to invest billions into connecting remote and indigenious communities in exchange for approval is a fool. If we can't even supply clean drinking water and safe housing what family will be able to afford rogers outrageous rates and be able to pass their credit checks and survive their heavy handed collection demands?

We need to be loud and vocal about our opposition and demand more competition not less. We need stronger anti-competition laws and stronger political will to fufill the promises they were elected on and its up to us to hold them to it.

It makes sense since cell plan prices been going up instead of down recently, that most likely the biggest companies conspiring to try to reverse the dropping cell phone price trend that was happening prior.

Rogers does not own Freedom Mobile.  Rogers announcing the intent to make the purchase and a argreement between the two companies does not mean that the sale is finalized. As for Freedom Mobiile existing or not in a year or two, there's no way to know that as this is speculation.  I would speculated this sale won't be allowed anyway, but that's only my opinion.

The Shaw-Rogers wedding will very likely take place.  Whether Freedom is included or not is likely to be a sticking point in the process.  If an alternate regional player is willing to step up to the plate, that might actually smooth the way.  Any alternate outcome now will result in Shaw being swallowed up at a later date in a less friendly way.  Shaw already let go about 25% of their staff in 2018.  Industry Canada should be waking up to such realities.
