So guess what? iPhone 8, 8 plus, X, XS, XS max, XR, 11, 11 pro, and 11 pro max users can have 5G but with a twist. It will have the letter "E" as in New Radio Evolution or 5G evolution. Which it means only LTE but higher bandwidth.
This is what it will look like and AT&T uses 5GE.
Imagine Public Mobile aka TELUS introducing it into their system, 11, XR, XS and SE 2nd Gen users will be excited while being disappointed.
Why did I not include iPhone 8, 8 plus, and X into the list of what public mobile could introduce it as? It is due to the fact Apple no longer supports the iPhone 8, 8 plus and X.

@hTideGnow - Yes, really 5G is just 4G.
But 5Ge is just connected to the LTE network as "LTE - A" which is why the iPhone 8 which has LTE only can display 5Ge.
And the Upload is limited to 25mbps on 5G plans, 10mbps on 4G plans, and 3G at about 512kbps.
I only used 3G and 5G plans, so I am assuming the 4G speed is 100mbps

Hi @fixin1 but it is still just connected to LTE network?? just with a different band and higher speed??
to me. People get 5G plan will get top speed of 250Mb even in LTE before, as good as true 5G and better for it more power friendly
For now, 5G just marketing, anything you can do on 5G, you can do in 4G. Really no need to chase or envy for the latest technology
