what I as a customer would like to see is a application of public mobile for phones. Where you can easily accessed your account on the go without going to internet searching the site and loging in. Also in this app customer could easily top up with their debit/ credit cards. This idea will be more practical for those who are contanstly on their cell, and with one click can accessed their accounts

Hello, Though it's not an app, your self-serve site provides the information that you want. Under Plans and Add-ons, Add-on Usage provides information in real time. Again, under Plans and Add-ons, Usage History provides all usage in real time, except data consumed. It is delayed 10-12 hours after a web session ends. I hope that you will find this answer useful.

There will always be 2 schools of thought with regard to app vs mobile-friendly web.  IMHO, an app provides the advantage of minimizing data overhead by offloading interactions to the local device and providing a richer user experience (i.e. screen refresh, icons, transitions, interactions, etc.).

Incorporating community post tracking & submission would be unique to PM as typical carrier mobile apps only support standard account tracking and prefs. Similar to an email app, users would be able to compose and review replies "offline" before submitting and, as a result, reduce their data overhead with respect to refreshes or account "timeouts".

I would encourage those who believe a mobile app is worthwhile to "bravo" this idea in order to give it more attention.

deltatux, PM does have a mobile site, as well as a full computer version. I always visit the mobile version of this community, using a smartphone. Considering that the mobile version has just the essentials, I enter the full version when I require further information. Look for Version: Mobile | Full. Cheers.

@Martin, I was talking about Self Serve, not the main website or the community. The Self Serve portal is not mobile friendly.

Hi it all depends on people preference on when to check the usage.  Checking by website is more suitable for laptop user when they are at home, while cell phone/tablet user prefer to use the app, which minimize the login process, and can show the usage like data and add-on right away.  I personal spend more time on cell phone than laptop, but it may also not time critical to need to know right away.  Developing an mobile app has more flexibility to more customers, but the focus of Public Mobile should ensure the customer can get sufficient support like activation problem, autopay issue.  To me, the mobile app is not the first priority.

Hi PM,

Can PM develop a mobile app for community or Self-serve? it would be very helpful and convenient for us to post and answer questions. To be honest, although we have email to notify people's replies but we cann't reply directly from email.

Thanks,

Ditto.  Coming from parent company Telus, that had a decent "My Account" app.  Ironically, it was even less necesary there than it is for PM.  I think the other big carrieres all have some thing simple (I use the Fido My Account app as well to manage my mother's account, for example).

Great idea! Would be awesome to manage my account from my phone. I imagine this is only a matter of time until apps are released, as almost every mobile provider has this already. Probably could just modify Telus' app.

Just dont forget us windows mobile folks.
