Honestly, I would think that it wouldn't be too much to enable.
Also, IF PM remains Completely Spartan, it will NEVER be able to fully grow.
The fees are rising as is, shouldn't PM try to offer a bit more, to balance the offset?
@Jeremy_M, I was curious, Why would this be listed as Not for US?
Wouldn't it be a useful tool, something that might prove to be useful, Example, IF one was on Vacation in a Foreign Country, If they had Wi-Fi, wouldn't it be a useful secondary method for Roaming? Would it be Costly, or Cost-effective? Just curious
Also, just concerned PM might close off avenues that might help PM grow into an even more effective and reliable carrier, Plus with how 4G Plans have rised up, just hopin PM won't close off certain Frills IF it can serve a essential service
@makkahn28 couple of issues I can see
1- most providers (everyone from Freedom to Telus) who offer WiFi calling seems very buggy (only on certain phones, usually purchased direct from carrier with certain firmware & software)
2- your example of overseas is kind of useless though (eg on Telus / Rogers IF you are overseas, making a WiFi call bills you the same as if you direct dialed, so there is no financial savings there)
3- signal / coverage is really thier selling point although every carrier has dead zones they are not hurting as bad as Freedom
4- the 4G LTE/3G now + WiFi introduces more complexity to average user
Good points, @kav2001c
The infrastructure exists they simply need to turn it on. For those of us in rural areas it would be a great asset. I have a booster that enhances coverage in one building, but when I go out to one of the other buildings I have no coverage at all. It is easier/cheaper to extend wifi coverage than cellular coverage.
If the signal strength has just one single bar in that other building that means it might be a good opportunity to install there another booster. As the prices of these devices seems to drop we might hope that in the near future be able to purchase miniaturised boosters and to bring them along with the cell when moving from one to another building.
using google hangouts for wifi calls in canada when my LD. minutes are over and it works pretty good ... but would like something for the US and overseas
