Private Message Notification

I think it would help new users who must correspond with moderators to first RECEIVE a private message outlining needed info as well as posting the request in the thread. It is easier to see the little envelope when it has a number in it.

It might also be helpful to have a "How to Get Assistance" article in the Getting Started board that includes a couple of highlighted screen shots.

I very much agree with your suggetsion

The user information and in particular the envelop with the number of private messages should be much larger to the NEW users to be able to find it easier .......

Also, here's another:

When one receives a private message, you also receive an email notification as well, as sometimes ppl may not know that they received a pm from someone

Thanks @makkahn28 I did consider that but worried someone getting an email would simply click "reply" which would, as you know, go nowhere.

Funny thing,

I get email notifications for forum updates.

But not for private messages!

We get e-mail notification for everything but not for private e-mail in our inbox ........  strage .....  but true 

may be PM can change that......

@jairolevi @makkahn28 In the Preferences tab of the My Settings button under your Community name you will see "Private Messenger". Email subscriptions for private messages van be toggled on/off.

That is awesome, you changed my life @Luddite.

Maybe that should be turned on by default.

A lot of people have hard time finding the private messages for the first time ( myself included ).
