There have been a number of threads around adding international roaming (a great idea). Coming from Telus, it's the one piece I miss now that I'm with PM. I travel outside of Canada/US about once a year and it's nice to have the peace of mind that I can be reached in an emergency. I don't typically use talk or data when travelling internationally, just want to be reachable.

As a stop-gap, could PM offer inbound text messages while roaming internationally? This would at least allow people to communicate with us while travelling outside of Canada/US (eg. "Your house is on fire, the dog is vomiting") in emergency situations. Outbound we would still need to revert to using VoIP, Wi-Fi or some other mechanism until a full international roaming solution is available.

From a competitive perspective, Chatr offers international roaming on prepaid solutions (pay per use) as does Wind - would gladly spend a few dollars (pay per use) for the peace of mind.

I like this I don't travel where I would require it (yet) but the abiltity to even be contacted by text is a great idea

Don't forget for 2 factor authentication. I could be locked out of my Google account and a bunch of other accounts if I don't recieve a text with a code to log in.

I love Public Mobile but I am seriously considering going back to Koodo because of this reason 😞

There are lots of 3rd party APPs can be reached, all you need WiFi

We just got US roaming, so I wouldn't expect it to soon, eventually yes.

With 2 step authentication for Google, Apple, Microsoft, Yahoo, it's one of essentials to have incoming texts regardless of location. Hope this would be considered sooner

I also want this. I didn't even realize that not being able to receive incoming texts was a thing (haven't travelled since I switched to Public in November). In every other country I've lived in ALL incoming texts, calls, etc were always free. Only in Canada have I seen this idea that both the sender and the receiver pay for a call.

Is PM looking into this?

I assume they're looking into it, but I haven't heard anything.

Any word from PM on this? With the new rate plans, Koodo, Chatr and Freedom all have a competitive edge here. If I were a new client that travelled outside of Canada and US, the other brands are more attractive (given now that prices have been adjusted less in PM's favour).
