Hey guys love PM, the service, the price and everything! Just a suggestion. I have learnt that I can forward my calls to a number before I leave Canada to a local number and receive a call any where in the world as long as I can get that local number which I forwarded my PM number to work outside Canada. Whether its on another wireless provider roam package or fongo etc.

But when it comes to regular texting, the text sender does not receive a notice that their text message did not go through as subscriber unavailable or anything like that, to them I am just ignoring them unless they know I am outside country and text messages will not reach me. It would be great if PM subscribers can either set up a text forwarding to local numbers which I think would be difficult otherwise it would be offered by others as well but would it be possible to have a Auto Reply to incoming text saying whatever message the PM subscriber wants to let the senders know while outside Canada and the USA. If so, then that would be incredible!!!

No one would have any reason not to be with Public Mobile as when recommending PM to all whom I know, the number one reason is that how do we even see our text messages outside USA and Canada to contact the sender back with the local sim.

The solution I offer is that as long as all individuals messaging are on iOS and use imessage then I am assuming that my PM sim in an iphone with the airplane mode on and wifi on would receive all the imessages. Because that the case with my other wireless provider but conventional text messages will not. I recommend everyone to buy an iphone 😄 I know but not all senders have an iOS device!

Good advice. But not everyone likes iPhone. iMessage can receive a text message by email address, not just the phone number. They actually used apple's own servers to do that. Google also focus on bring text message like iMessage to its android platform. Here is the article. Hope you enjoy reading.

@nishufan sadly, it's going to take some time for RCS to be ubiquitous.

But you're right not everyone likes iPhone/iOS.  @Smcanada99 the workaround I would suggest is to install WhatsApp and/or Facebook Messenger, and start moving over conversations with your non-iPhone friends to using WhatsApp or Facebook instead of texting.  Both of those apps will work fine while roaming aboard so long as you have WiFi signal or use a foreign SIM on a plan that includes data.   There are many other apps you could choose (e.g. Skype, BBM, Line, WeChat, Viber, Hangouts, etc) that are also cross-platform and only require a data connection, but WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger are among the most popular, so having either or both will increase odds that the people you want to chat with also have the same app to chat on.

Bringing roaming to other countries other than US probably won't come anytime soon, since US roaming was introduced recently. Any additions will probably take a while to materialize.
