Don't think this will happen. I believe the orriginal idea for PM was to have straighforward pricing without any hidden plans. Referrals community loyalty and autopay were the ways to get a discounted price.
I don't want my provider to target their promos. Just make it available to all. We are all equal per charter, so why do we want carriers to discriminate? Are dollars from teachers worth more than a dollar?
With the sudden price hikes unless they start to go back to their roots of having straightforward low priced plan without any hidden surprises or starting to offer a larger range of discounts, they are not going to get any new customers. Hopefully, they get the message and start going back to their roots and if not so, to some degree partially remedy the issue by offering a more extensive range of discounts. Ideally going back to their roots and making it affordable for all.
It's Public Mobile job to be the low price provider, if it is through discounts or not and the discounts offered should not just be for Gov and orgizations but for students and professionals.
It should be for everyone. I cannot express this enough.
Students dont even really get discounts on phone plans these days, they just make it available for everyone. The reasons why corporate plans are a thing is because a business can switch all of their employees to the corporate plan, more money to be made by switching everyone to one provider. Bell/Rogers/Telus offer the business plans. Not Fido/Virgin/Koodo, ect.
More young people (students) go to the smaller 3. Fido, Virgin and Koodo. When i started University, and finally got out of my bell 3year plan, I went to the smaller 3. If you're unhappy with your plan, and find a better deal, by all means switch
Public Mobile needs to find a way to bring back lower priced plans. Offering more discounts is just one way they can consider in doing so. Ideally, they would decrease the price of plans for everybody. If they do choose to offer discounts and target students they could easily get a whole campus of students through a student discount, and their refer a friend rewards program (they could even throw some social media into it). I think everybody would ideally want the prices for everyone to be the same and afford but that is not always the case. Public Mobile would also ideally not compete with the medium three of Fideo/Virgin/Koodo (Koodo and Public Mobile both being own by Telus) but would be among the smaller ones like Chatr and Freedom/Wind. It is very disappointing that Freedom Mobile and Public Mobile are increasing their prices.
I think PM should, JUST to make things more interesting, Sim Cards, either Online or Walmart, Lawblaws, No Frills, Shoppers Drug Mart, that might make it easier to have access to Sims, and of Course, either Same retailers to get Vouchers, or Multiple CC attached, one for Paying Rate Plans, other for Add-Ons, Add Paypal as another Option.
This could then allow PM to focus on providing the Services.
IF PPL require Cellular devices, Amazon, Telus or Koodo Stores are options at least
The Services PM should provide, UNDER Prepaid AND ALL under the Do It Yourself, SELF-SERVE, like Global Roaming, and the essentials, like Short Codes example.
HENCE, TAKE the WONDERFUL parts of a PostPaid, Shake it and turn it into PrePaid, & Under the Do It Yourself, SELF-SERVE, and that could make a Unique Carrier.
JUST a SPARTAN Carrier, like as NOW, IS way too Obtuse, and we're STILL paying an arm and a Leg, so IF We are paying for it, Add the Interesting Frills, NO Call Centers I can live with, BUT Global Roaming, Managing Multiple A/C Under Single User, Online Support, Being able to Share Data amonst shared A/C's, Vacational Idling Plans, Raising the 90 Day fro when A/C is in Suspension to Top up BEFORE A/C is Deleted Permanently, to 120 or 150 Day, Having Longer terms Cycles, like 120 or 150 Day, Might become more Fruiting and Delicious.
