receiving texts in weird order

Hi everyone, not sure if this has happened to anyone here. 

My wife has a samsung s8. She is with PM. She would receive a text, opens her message, replies, then gets a text notification of her text. when the contact then replies to her it would come up above her reply.  does that sound confusing enough. 

I have restarted the phone and also removed and reinstalled the sim card but no luck.

1. Try to change your messenger application ex. google messages

2. Reboot your Samsung device and check for updates

3. Restore Samsung messenger to factory defaults.

Have a look at this site. This has happened to me before. Rebooting the phone has helped me out.
