Oracles are our Community support superheroes, and in this article you will learn:
What it means to be an Oracle.
What the Oracle Program benefits are.
How to become an Oracle.
Our current Oracle Team.
What Does It Mean To Be an Oracle?
The Oracles are a small group of Community members who have extensive knowledge about all things Public Mobile, and are passionate about making the Community a better place by helping our members. Oracles have used their knowledge to make a positive impact in the Community, by being helpful and providing constructive solutions and ideals, and their reward is legendary status—we view them as part tech wizard, part boy/girl scout, and part Jedi master.
You can always ask an Oracle for help with any problem, but please remember that they’re customers like you, and not Public Mobile employees.
The Oracle Program
What are the benefits of being an Oracle?
Being an Oracle has some pretty sweet perks:
Access to new Community features, and the exclusive Oracle group.
A welcome package filled with unique swag and cool goodies!
Being the first to know about official Public Mobile news.
Sneak-peeks at new Public Mobile projects and initiatives.
The respect and admiration of the Community.
And last, but not least, a $20 Community Reward every 30 days!
How to become an Oracle
The first step in becoming an Oracle is to create a Community account and start getting involved. This means asking and answering questions, offering solutions, and giving Bravos to helpful members. Every three months, we take a look at the Community’s most active members and consider them for the Oracle program.
Here’s some tips to help you stand out and get noticed:
High quality content is far more important than high quantity.
Give constructive feedback to Public Mobile, because we appreciate that.
Finally, maintain a positive attitude towards others.
Note that Public Mobile employees are not eligible to join the Oracle team.
How long do you stay an Oracle and can Oracles lose their status?
When we look for new Oracles, we also review our current team.
The title ‘Oracle’ is one to aspire to: only a chosen few earn the right to use it. Oracles retain their status by keeping up their great work, producing high quality content, and staying positive and helpful in the Community.
The number of posts, Bravos, and Accepted Solutions help us determine if Oracles have been supporting the Community.
If magic makes you a magician, then logic makes Luddite a “logician”. Dr. Luddite (yup, he has a PhD) likes to discuss the question “Is the glass half empty or half full?” While we think that full is always better, be ready to discuss. If you’re chatting with Luddite, he’s probably sitting fireside in his study with a glass of Riesling, snacking on roasted nuts, and listening to Elton John. He would tell you that if he could have lunch with any historical figure, it would be Winston Churchill.
“To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.”
NDesai is an IT whiz! After years of work experience and a strong passion for what he does, he has a wide breadth of IT knowledge including computer hardware/ software, networking, programming, web development, wireless and security. As a result, he has a hard time going anywhere without his computer and phone. I’m sure many of you can relate, right? NDesai is also an avid Vancouver Canucks and New England Patriots Fan.
One of ShawnC13’s favourite pastimes is cycling. Impressively, he has completed the Ride to Conquer Cancer, an intense 2 day cycling event where he biked 250 KM! 2017 marked the event’s 10th year anniversary and the team hopes to celebrate this milestone by raising $100M. Want advice from ShawnC13? You may be able to bribe him with Peanut M&Ms…
Will13am describes himself as a tinkerer and likes getting his hands dirty with all things mechanical and tech. These days he’s been collecting lots of tech toys, but one thing he would like to get back into is fixing and working with old cars. He also wants to take up travelling. As he said, “you know, the lost decade with kids” kind of got in the way of doing that. If you have any recommendations on where to go next, I’m sure he would be all ears!
Since joining in 2016, he’s gotten over 10,000 bravos - that’s a whole lotta digits! He’s also provided over 300 solutions - legendary! Mimmo_L’s favourite pastimes are spending time with good company (his family) & even better food! He knows a good recipe or two because he loves to cook. He’s a big fan of FC Barcelona - wonder who he thinks is the best player in the world? 😉
Also a member since 2016, stonechucker’s posted over 4300 times and has nearly 6000 bravos - amazing stuff. He’s a “self-taught techie of all things geek” and a lover of pasta, burgers, steak, and craft beer - if you need a hand from stonechucker, maybe try enticing him with some of his favourite foods! He loves spending time in nature, including walking trails, cycling, and walking his adorable ‘jug’ (Pug X Jack Russell Terrier). Can you guess his favourite sport from his name?
Another member of the 2016 club - he’s contributed over 110 solutions has earned over 4200 bravos - impressive! He loves staying up to date with the most recent tech - in his spare time, he enjoys watching Netflix and tinkering with different cell phones and computers. He’s a big fan of the Blue Jays and Maple Leafs - Public Mobile fantasy league anyone?
Not to be confused for SDO8, he’s amassed 200 solutions and over 4400 bravos - stellar! SD08 is into stock trading and personal finance, and is also learning German on the side- das ist so cool! He loves reading fantasy, dystopias, and thrillers - he’ll also destroy you in board games, puzzles, and Game of Thrones trivia so don’t even try it. Oddly, IKEA furniture is just like a giant hands-on puzzle for him. Need a new desk?
