Hello,

I am wanting to buy an unlocked phone through amazon or some other seller that will work with public mobile, In particular I was thinking of getting a Samsung Galaxy A70, I was wondering are there any restrictions on what types of phones work with publics network?

You can check whether your phone is compatible or not on this page here:

You can also check whether it's stolen or not, not sure if it works or not, never used it.

Since you are considering a purchase you can always ask for recommendations from other users. Here are a few threads discussing different phones including samsung, oneplus 7, umidigi A3 series, A5 & A5 pro, F1 & F2 .....theres some good info in these posts about different makes and models and the best bang for your buck. You'd be surprised at the top quality you'll get from the umidigi series phones compared to the entry level Samsung phones at the same price.

The only “restrictions” is that is has to haft the frequencies to run on the public mobile network but I know for a fact the Samsung A70 does work on public mobile because I seen others with the A70 asking questions about self serve or other account related questions so you are good to go on that phone
