I am trying to get a new carier but its telling me to contact my provider when I use QR esim downloading

The price of the data is listed prior to purchasing. If you go ahead and buy it that means that you agreed to it.
To port out from any carrier, your account must be active. Is your account paid up to date? If not, you'd have to renew to the cheapest plan for aleast 1 month.
Unless your continuing within the Telus family then you don't have to. You'd just create a ticket and explain to agent.

yes, it is normal that the addon are more expensive then regular plan. To Public Mobile, they want you to get a plan with enough data, rather than get the cheapest plan by dollar amount and then buy data addon after
So, what is your problem here? QR esim downloading? you said you are buying data add-on, so you have your PM service already setup, aren't you?
